Keanu Reeves Joins ‘Sonic 3’ Movie Cast as Shadow

Keanu Reeves is speeding into Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie as Shadow the Hedgehog.

In the John Campea show on YouTube, podcast host John Campea confirmed that the character of Shadow in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will not be voiced by Hayden Christensen as previously speculated, but by Keanu Reeves instead.

The Hollywood Reporter has also come forward to confirm the news via multiple sources.

This news comes after the CinemaCon presentation from Paramount last week, when the studio debuted the first footage for Sonic 3. In it, it also confirmed that Jim Carrey will return to reprise his role as Dr Robotnik for the 3rd installment of the movie adaptation of the video game franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is an upcoming action-adventure comedy film directed by Jeff Fowler and is a direct sequel to the movies Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

First announced in February 2022, the movie concluded production in March 2024 and is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on 20 December 2024 in the United States. The film will draw inspiration from the video games Sonic Adventure 2 (2001) and Shadow the Hedgehog (2005).

The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie grossed $319.7 million USD globally, becoming the highest grossing video game film in North America until it was surpassed by the second movie in 2022, which grossed $405.4 million globally.
