Developer and publisher Mega Crit has announced the upcoming release of Slay the Spire 2, a sequel to the popular roguelike deck-building game Slay the Spire.
The sequel is planned for an early access release on Steam sometime in 2025.
Taking place in the same setting as the first game, the Spire will once again reopen its doors after a thousand years, featuring new enemies, events, and treasures in the familiar style as the first game.
In addition, new characters with their own unique cards, mechanics and personalities will be added in Slay the Spire 2, giving veterans of the game opportunities to mix and match new playstyles.
According to Mega Crit, Slay the Spire 2 was completely rewritten from the ground up compared to the first game. With a new game engine, they aim to bring in modern features, incorporate brand new visuals and expanding mod compatibility across the entire game.
Currently the game is only planned for a Steam release, with no announcements for possible releases on other consoles or platforms.
For those who want a taste of the game’s world and characters before the game releases, Slay the Spire is currently available to play on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS and Android mobile devices, and PC via Steam.
