Unicorn Overlord Sells Over 500,000 Copies Worldwide

Just under a month after its release, SEGA has announced that Unicorn Overlord has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide.

To commemorate the occasion, SEGA has released a special accolades trailer, showcasing what critics all around the world have to say about the game, alongside footage of the gameplay of Unicorn Overlord.

Despite being released just one week after the immensely popular Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord was still met with critical acclaim and extremely positive public reception, with SEGA announcing that the game was being sold out in many retail stores in Japan.

In our 9/10 review of Unicorn Overlord, we described the game as having “glorious tactics and visual feast for the ages”, and said that Unicorn Overlord is “truly a splendid game for those who love to rise to the highly strategical gameplay challenges and sink into the sea of theory crafting fun.”

Unicorn Overlord is a tactical RPG that was developed by Vanillaware and published by SEGA in Japan and by Atlus for worldwide release.

Set on the continent of Zerith as it is consumed by war, the player takes the role of the exiled prince Alain as he gathers allies to liberate the nations of Fevrith from the Zenoiran Empire.

The game was launched on March 8th, 2024, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S. A demo version of Unicorn Overlord is also available for players who are interested, which allows players to experience the first 5 hours of gameplay.
