Condor, a spin-off to Remedy Entertainment’s AAA title, Control, will not be a free live service title.
In a recently released annual report, Remedy Entertainment has released more details about their upcoming live service multiplayer game, known as codename Condor.
The report states that codename Condor will be classified as a service-based fixed-price game, which is described as “premium games that may have a lower initial price point but a long tail of revenue through updates, game expansions, and potentially microtransactions.”
“For these games, a key differentiator is the post-launch live operations phase meant to keep players engaged for years,” the report reads. “This model will be used for example in codename Condor, a multiplayer spin-off game of Control.”
This confirms that the new spin-off will not only be a premium title to start but also have extra DLC expansions or microtransactions, which is similar to games such as Dead By Daylight.
Furthermore, Remedy has also reported that Condor entered production readiness in December 2023, indicating that the game will be entering full production soon.
According to the report, the initial development budget for Condor has amounted to EUR 25 million, while also considering between self-publishing or a new publishing partner for the game as Remedy Entertainment has acquired full rights for Control from 505 Games.
Condor will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. However, no official release date for the game has been planned.
