Publisher Konami has announced an official release date for Contra: Operation Galuga, the latest entry in the classic run-‘n’-gun series.
As announced, Contra: Operation Galuga will officially release on 13 March 2024 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Priced at $39.99, digital pre-orders for Contra: Operation Galuga are also now available for most platforms.
In addition to the release date announcement, a playable demo for Contra: Operation Galuga is also now available for download in digital storefronts.
The demo will feature a sampling of content from the first and third stages of the game and players can engage it in up to 4 players multiplayer co-op.
Konami also noted that completing the demo will unlock bonus content for the full game as it launched in a few weeks.
Developed by WayForward, Contra: Operation Galuga is a reimagination of the original 1980s Contra games on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and arcade cabinets, returning to the series’ classic roots.
The game will feature new stages from jungle environments to enemy military bases, as well as new enemies, mechanics, an updated power-up system, and modernized visuals and audio.
Moreover, Contra: Operation Galuga features 3 difficulty settings with plenty of additional challenge options, offering both veterans and newcomers alike to tweak the game to their liking.
