Bandai has announced that Digimon Dreamers, a comedy manga series based on the virtual pet franchise, will be ending this coming March.
The news was announced in the “Digimon manga-kai DP Fan Meeting” video on the official Digimon Partners YouTube channel, unveiling that Digimon Dreamers manga will end publication on March 4, 2024.
The Digimon Dreamers manga series was illustrated by artist Ten’ya Yabuno, who also designed many monsters in the virtual pet franchise such as Veedramon, Daemon, and MagnaAngemon.
Launched in Shueisha’s Saikyō Jump magazine in October 2021, the manga follows a young gamer named Ritsu Kodo as he is suddenly whisked away into the digital world of the game he plays.
In the world, he met Pulsemon, the Digimon he’s been training in the game, and learned that he has been summoned as a Tamer to help break a curse that prevents Digivolution from happening.
On the 1st of June, 2023, the manga series would shift its publication from the Saikyō Jump magazine to being a webcomic series on the official Digimon website.
While Digimon Dreamers will be ending, Bandai has announced that a new webcomic series will be launching for the franchise.
Based on the trading card game of the Digimon franchise instead, the serialization of the newly announced Digimon Liberator is scheduled for spring 2024.
