Until Dawn, the hit choose-your-own-adventure horror title by Supermassive Games, will officially be released on the PlayStation 5 and PC.
As part of today’s January 2024 State of Play presentation, Sony Interactive Entertainment unveiled that an enhanced version of Until Dawn is coming to PlayStation 5 and PC sometime this year.
According to an official PlayStation blog post, this particular version of Until Dawn is being rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 and will see many improvements across the board, including improved animations, characters, environments, VFX, and more.
Furthermore, there will also be a new third-person camera mode, allowing players to re-experience the horror of Blackwood Mountain from a new perspective.
Audio has also been overhauled and features new scores from renowned horror composer Mark Korven.
New locations, interactions, and collectibles are also mentioned in the blog post, and more details regarding this enhanced version of Until Dawn will be shared at a later date.
The original was released on the PlayStation 4 in 2015 and saw major success, spawning two additional games for the PlayStation VR headset; a prequel set 60 years before the events of the main game called The Inpatient, and an on-rails shooter titled ‘Until Dawn: Rush of Blood’.
A sequel was never made but Supermassive Games had released a spiritual successor in the form of The Quarry.
Recently, it was also announced that Until Dawn will be adapted into a live-action movie with Shazam! and Lights Out Director David F. Sandberg at the helm.
