Brace yourself because the Hell Gate of Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat has officially opened, and here we have prepared a tier list ranking each character and their variants in terms of performance.
Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat takes the SSStylish combat the franchise is known for and puts it onto mobile devices and each of the iconic characters comes in different variants with each using different weapons, abilities, and fancy new movesets.
Considering there are various rarities of character variants and each fights differently, we have come up with a tier list for the game to rank them out based on their toolkit and performances.
Do take note that this Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat tier list is based on early impressions of the game, so certain characters’ placement and performance may differ in the future when more content drops.
The criteria for each ranking are as follows:
Rating(s):
- S Tier – These folks are some of the best in the game, and generally excel at fulfilling their role in most scenarios and are highly recommended to build.
- A Tier – Excellent batch of characters, only falling slightly behind the S-tier units, and can play well in most content.
- B Tier – Still worth the investment and can be pretty solid in certain teams or circumstances.
- C Tier – Situational. May not be worth the investment due to limited usage.
- D Tier – Very situational. Not recommended unless under a specific scenario.
Without further ado, let’s see which character and their variant, from Dante to Vergil, fights the best in Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat.
S | |||||
Vergil - Endless Judgment (Physical) | Get motivated and be the storm that is approaching! Endless Judgement Vergil is easily one of the strongest characters in the game thanks to his myriads of abilities that are great at subduing groups of enemies. If you love aggression and achieve S rank in style regularly, Endless Judgement Vergil can easily unleash disgusting high damage with his Sunset passive skill. He also excels at range with Judgment Cut, while being able to protect himself with Storm Swords & Spiral Swords.
Dante - Royal Guard (Physical) | Royal Guard brings the fist to the demons' faces and has Dante focus on chaining up strings of destructive punches with high Shield-Breaking efficiency. Not only that, Dante becomes incredibly resilient when activating Devil Trigger and generates Rage to smash hellspawns to bits with ease while also being able to negate incoming attacks with Block.
Vergil - Nomadic Lightning (Lightning) | If Vergil is already such as powerhouse with one Yamato, now imagine him going around with two swords. A literal storm that is approaching as he can gather enemies up in one place and apply Electric PEN debuff on them as he unleashes shock after shock of lightning.
A | |||||
Dante - One-Man Show (Lightning) | Get your rock and roll game started with One-Man Show Dante, a hunter who not only excels at dishing out devastating damage but also supports his entire team with his guitar performance, bolstering their damage output. His “Rock of the Night” Ultimate Skill in particular is quite a highlight as he starts a crazy party with a powerful nuke.
Lady - Frosty Grace (Ice) | Step aside Elsa because Lady just became the Snow Queen as the Frosty Grace variant. Wielding both dual pistols and a shotgun while manipulating the element of Ice, Frosty Grace emphasizes a lot of agility and delivers powerful icy damage.
Dante - Fists of Salvation (Fire) | Punch your way into victory. Fists of Salvation is another Dante variant that focuses on letting the fists do the talking and excels in both offense and support. Consists of two modes, one focusing on punches while the other on kicks, Fists of Salvation is a rather flexible fighter especially when it comes to stacking up “Brand” stacks for more damage output.
Vergil - Devil Crusher (Physical) | Vergil with fists, motivated and all. Yamato is not his only stylish weapon because this variant enables him to swiftly dismantle DMG-RED Shields while unleashing “Heavy Rain Swords” to immobilize enemies for his series of onslaughts.
B | |||||
Dante - Demon Hunter (Physical) | Dante as we know and love, with his iconic Rebellion sword and red coat and all. A free variant with a simple-to-understand kit and an exceptional supporter especially with his “Stinger” move, which applies the Weakening effect.
Lady - Spark Igniter (Fire) | Lady in Black! This variant of Lady can efficiently dismantle Hit Shields and have a distinct Ammo system that bolsters her damage as Ammo accumulates. She is also an exceptional Fire support, packed with moves that enhance Fire DMG and grant “Brand” stacks.
Lady - Swift Arsenal (Physical) | The free default variant of Lady and a great member to have a good chunk of the early game because of her access to a variety of ranged attacks. Furthermore, she can also disperse Green Orbs to heal allies, amplify the DMG of your entire Lineup, and so on.
Nero - Knight of the Order (Fire) | Default Nero in his Devil May Cry 4 form, still possessing his demonic arm and serving under the Order of the Sword. This variant of Nero is a Fire character proficient in unleashing destructive damage especially when “Exceed” is activated, delivering explosive boom.
Hopefully, this tier list can help you plan your Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat progression ahead efficiently, especially in regards to who you should spend resources on or who to target when pulling.
That said, as with any gacha game, we recommend you invest in a character you find the most fun, rather than following meta blindly, especially in a game like Devil May Cry where stylish combo expression is the fun.
