Warner Bros Games has announced that their open-world action RPG Hogwarts Legacy has sold over 22 million copies by the end of 2023, with approximately 2 million of those sales over December.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad had recently spoke to Variety about the success of Hogwarts Legacy, “But it’s not just the unit sold that I’m so proud of, it’s just that it delighted the fans so much,” he said.
A number of fun in-game data was shared by Warner Bros Games, such as the game collectively racking up 707 million hours played, 819 million potions were brewed, 1.3 billion magical plants harvested, 593 million magical beasts rescued and 4.9 billion dark wizards defeated within the halls of the virtual wizarding school.
Haddad had also mentioned that fans can expect good things, as the team are already working on new titles based on the Potterverse’s video game world, including the previously announced Quidditch game that is currently in the beta-testing phase.
“We don’t have any particular announcements on exactly how and when [Quidditch] is going to come to the market, but we are working to get it designed in a way just to delight fans,” Haddad said.
Haddad also teased “a series of other things” that have yet to be announced, that will let players “be part of this world and stories and characters in deeper and deeper ways.” which might be an indication of a potential sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, but it is best to take that speculation with a grain of salt.
