A leak by hackers has dumped all the personal info of Insomniac Developers online alongside information on upcoming games like Wolverine.
Previously, the group had threatened to auction off the data for 2 million USD- though Insider Gaming reports that after the deadline, no single party offered to buy the data, hence the dump.
The result has been a maelstrom of information and discourse- while information about exciting things like the Insomniac Games roadmap and more information about Marvel’s Wolverine were on the list, it came at the cost of putting the people behind the games at risk.
Since the leak, neither Insomniac Games nor Sony Interactive Entertainment have issued a statement.
Ransomware attacks are unfortunately more common than they should be in the games industry- Capcom was in a similar position two years ago, exposing information like the development of a PC port of Monster Hunter Rise.
Insomniac Games are one of the most prolific first-party studios under PlayStation this generation- the studio has released three different PS5 exclusives, in the form of Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, with the previously announced Wolverine in development alongside post-launch support for Spider-Man 2.
