Synthesis is an important mechanic in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and as you progress the game you will be introduced to a more advanced synthesis named Four-Monster Synthesis.
As the name implies, the particular synthesis now requires four monsters rather than two, making the process more complicated. Here we have prepared a guide for the Four-Monster Synthesis system and a list of combinations.
Four-Monster Synthesis is an advanced special breeding process that requires four monsters instead of two to synthesize rare monster types. Colloquially called “Grandparents Synthesis”, this breeding process spawns new monsters not based on the parents, but on the offspring’s grandparents.
Essentially, choose four monsters that will act as the grandparents. Each pair of grandparents will produce offspring and the two offspring will act as the new parents to birth a target monster. The family type of the new parents is irrelevant to the process as the target offspring will spawn based on the grandparents.
The Four-Monster Synthesis is an important mechanic because certain S and X-rank monsters in the game can only be obtained through this breeding process.
The table below will serve as an example, showcasing how you can obtain the Mimic.

Note that after the parent monsters are used for synthesis, they will disappear as the offspring has been created. This rule also applies to Four-Monster Synthesis, so be aware of which monsters you are using as synthesis materials.
We recommend turning off the autosave function from the game’s settings in case of choosing the wrong monsters for synthesis.
