CryptoKitties is one of the first attempted game for the mobile at employing cryptocurrency in a recreational way. The game released by Axiom Zen back in October 2017 allows you to trade, buy and breed digital cats that hold actual cryptocurrency value in the form of Ethereum. Right now, the app has been officially launched as a beta in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan limited for the iOS.

Just like Bitcoins or Ethereum, the cats contains a trait that cannot be replicated. These traits can be passed onto other cats through breeding and gain a new cat. Every cat that is bread or bought are unique in its way with distinct features. Some that are more sought out than others will have a higher rarity and of course higher value. Apparently, there was a cat that’s been sold for around $117,000 USD!
Though for those who have followed news in the world of cryptocurrencies know how China perceives of cryptocurrencies, Axiom Zen managed to push CryptoKitties into the Chinese market. Sadly, there’s no release date for other regions yet but there are plans to bring the app to North America.
