Square Enix has announced Visions of Mana, the latest entry in the long-running Mana JRPG series.
Unveiled at The Game Awards 2023, Visions of Mana is an open world RPG, letting you interact with the world around you with a variety of interesting ways.
It’s set for release in 2024 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S as well as PC via Steam.
“I am delighted to finally be able to reveal Visions of Mana, the first mainline instalment to Mana series in over fifteen years” said Mana Series Producer, Masaru Oyamada. “The development team have been working hard to ensure that Visions of Mana remains faithful to the series that players know and love while also offering fans and newcomers a fresh new experience with an all-new story, characters, and gameplay mechanics. We cannot wait to share more details about the game with you soon.”
The game’s story is as follows:
In Tianeea, the Fire Village, everyone is preparing to celebrate the coming of the Faerie and the naming of an “alm.” Every four years, alms from around the world are chosen to travel to the Tree of Mana and rejuvenate the flow of mana power. A soul guard is also chosen to ensure the alms’ safe pilgrimage. Val is one such guard.
On the day of the Faerieʼs arrival, Val brings his childhood friend to the festival. As the sun falls beneath the skyline, all the spectators wait with bated breath, hoping to be chosen as an alm. The Faerie finally descends before Valʼs friend, appointing her the Alm of Fire.
The villagers bid them both farewell, praying for their success as they embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
The Mana series has been enjoying resurgent popularity, having in recent years released a remake of Legend of Mana as well as a mobile title Echoes of Mana.
