Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima once again took the stage during The Game Awards 2023 and revealed a new project simply titled “OD” with Jordan Peele and Xbox Game Studios.
As always, Hideo Kojima showcased a rather bizarre first look into his upcoming project OD, featuring mostly close-ups of some known actors’ faces with no context.
The faces revealed in the new project are all high-profile Hollywood actors, including the likes of Sophia Lillis (It, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), and Udo Kier (Hunters, Swan Song).
“It is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s at the same time a movie and at the same time a new form of media,” said Kojima.
Jordan Peele
Surprising audience, actor and director Jordan Peele then walked onto the stage, revealing a partnership with Hideo Kojima and expressing his love for Metal Gear Solid 2.
Known for being part of a comedy duo with actor Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele has been highly praised for his directorial work on films such as Nope, Us, and Get Out.
“He’s been an inspiration to me, and the opportunity to collaborate with him is truly incredible,” Jordan Peele said while on stage with Kojima.
“In my films, I’m always trying to maximize the immersion, put the audience into the main character’s shoes.”
“Hideo is the master of this and he does it on a whole other level.”
“What he’s cooking up here is completely immersive, utterly terrifying, and I am absolutely honored to be collaborating with the GOAT”
Aside from Jordan Peele, Kojima also teased that other equally impressive names are also involved in this project.
Not many details for OD have been shared yet including any release window or platform, but it would likely come to Xbox Series X|S, given that the project is in collaboration with Xbox Games Studios.
