[Guide] Dynasty Warriors M – In-Depth Tier List

Dynasty Warriors M had opened up its servers and brought the Musou action onto mobile devices and here we prepared a tier list ranking the best warriors in terms of performances.

Aside from fancy move sets, the abilities in Dynasty Warriors M do have some added flair, so here is a tier list that showcases what makes certain characters better than others.

Take note that the tier list is based on early impressions of the game, so a character’s placement and strength may differ in the future when more content drops.

Rating(s):

S Tier – The folks who excel at fulfilling their role in most scenarios, from story to endgame.
A Tier – Still an excellent batch of characters, only falling slightly behind the S-tier units.
B Tier – Still worth the investment and can be solid in certain teams or circumstances.
C Tier – Situational.
D Tier – Very situational. Not recommended unless under a specific scenario.

Lu Bu	Attribute: Strength	Element: Slash	Faction: Unaffiliated
	Warriors of all Warriors. Lu Bu the Demon General can reset the cooldown of a random skill when taken enough damage and strengthen said skill, allowing him to chain up combos. Additionally, he has self-heals and various offensive debuffs.
Dong Bai	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Poison	Faction: Unaffiliated
	Dong Bai is the granddaughter of Dong Zhuo. Willful and cruel, she is a powerful officer with multiple debuffs such as reductions to ATK, Guard Regen, Crit Resist, and more. Furthermore, she is a Poison unit with an Inherent Tactic that bolsters allies’ attacks against poisoned units.
Guan Yinping	Attribute: Strength	Element: Lightning	Faction: Shu
	Daughter of the Guan Yu, the God of War. She has a lot of self-sustaining abilities, healing up herself and increasing her defenses. Furthermore, she can reduce her skill cooldown for more combos.
Zhao Yun	Attribute: Agility	Element: Wind	Faction: Shu
	One of the Five Tiger Generals of Shu, this young dragon is a master of the Wind. He is able to unleash devastating elemental damage through multiple Crit-oriented buffs and ignoring enemy defenses.
Wang Yi	Attribute: Agility	Element: Fire	Faction: Wei
	Wang Yi is a powerful DPS with the ability to ignore the enemy’s DEF consistently while unleashing extra damage with her Skills.
Lu Lingqi	Attribute: Strength	Element: Fire	Faction: Unaffiliated
	Daughter of Demon General Lu Bu, so without a doubt that she is as strong. She is capable of entering invincibility and negating incoming damage through skills or taking a certain amount of damage.
Zhang Liao	Attribute: Strength	Element: Ice	Faction: Wei
	One of the Five Generals of Wei. Upon entering combat, Zhang Liao deals extra damage to enemies equal to their remaining HP. Furthermore, if all officers in the squad are from Wei, he takes far less damage from enemies.

Sun Shangxiang	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Wind	Faction: Wu
	Bright and vivacious, Sun Shangxiang is a great support Officer as she grants healing whenever she enters the battlefield and greatly increases the maximum HP of any Wind allies passively.
Diaochan	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Ice	Faction: Unaffiliated
	A talented singer and dancer, Diaochan was considered one of the most beautiful women of her time. In battle, she is able to decrease all enemy Officers’ ATK and Guard whenever she uses a Knock-Down skill.
Yuan Shao	Attribute: Agility	Element: Ice	Faction: Unaffiliated
	Leader of the Coalition that gathered to end the tyranny of Dong Zhuo. Yuan Shao serves as a valuable support as he is able to grant all allies increased Max Guard as well as speed up Musou charge time.
Cao Ren	Attribute: Strength	Element: Lightning	Faction: Wei
	Cousin of great General Cao Cao. This courageous warrior grants allies a chance to parry incoming damage as well as boost allied Wei Officers’ Max HP.
Knight Guan Yinping	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Ice	Faction: Shu
	A special variant of Guan Yinping who is capable of granting allies Musou charge whenever she uses her skill. Allied Officers also gain a good amount of Max HP when in the same squad as her.
Xu Huang	Attribute: Agility	Element: Ice	Faction: Wei
	Possesses good defensive buffs and the ability to deal a good chunk of damage to enemies based on their missing health whenever he enters the battle.
Lianshi	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Fire	Faction: Wu
	Burn baby burn. Lianshi causes enemies under the Inferno debuff to take extra damage and a chance of being inflicted with Awe.
Cheng Pu	Attribute: Strength	Element: Lightning	Faction: Wu
	As long as Lightning Enchant is active, Cheng Pu restores Guard every second. Additionally, all allied Officers’ Guards will take less damage.
Wang Yuanji	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Wind	Faction: Jin
	Daughter of Wang Sui. She has an Inherent Tactic that causes her to deal more Guard DMG to enemy Officers, with each hit stacking up the damage output. What’s more, she reduces the skill cooldown of the squad.
Cao Cao	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Ice	Faction: Wei
	As the Future King of Wei, Cao Cao has great synergy with anyone from said faction, granting them an increased chance to inflict Frost. Furthermore, he can also decrease enemies’ DEF and Guard.

B
Sun Quan	Attribute: Agility	Element: Lightning	Faction: Wu
	Second son of Sun Jian and younger brother to Sun Ce. Strategically minded, Sun Quan grants allies with increased ATK. If the squad is only composed of Wu Officers, they gain additional ATK, as well as DEF.
Xu Zhu	Attribute: Strength	Element: Wind	Faction: Wei
	Xu Zhu is an absolute unit as he can breeze through enemy onslaught like nobody’s business. He possesses high DEF and taunts enemies, giving room for allies to breathe.
Xiahou Dun	Attribute: Agility	Element: Poison	Faction: Wei
	The longer Xiahou Dun is in battle, the more damage he receives, the deadlier he will become. You would also want another Poison ally as he gains more ATK with them in the squad.
Dong Zhuo	Attribute: Strength	Element: Fire	Faction: Unaffiliated
	This power-hungry malevolence is able to decrease enemy ATK by a good amount. What’s more, as long as there are female Officers present, he restores HP every 5 seconds.
Zhuge Liang	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Wind	Faction: Shu
	Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! Master tactician Zhuge Liang is able to inflict Silence upon enemy Officers and remove their Elemental Enchants. Furthermore, any Shu Officers squad up with him deals more damage.
Daqiao	Attribute: Agility	Element: Wind	Faction: Wu
	Daqiao is a good support to pair with any DPS Officer as she has an Inherent Tactic that grants allies an increased Crit Rate. Additionally, when any Officer has over 45% Crit Rate, the entire squad gains increased ATK.
Xin Xianying	Attribute: Agility	Element: Lightning	Faction: Jin
	Xin Xianying is a rather offensive character as she ignores enemies’ DEF on all her attacks for a short duration after entering the battlefield.
Zhou Yu	Attribute: Agility	Element: Fire	Faction: Wu
	Synergizes with Fire allies, allowing them to trigger Inferno DMG every few seconds, and causes each tick to deal more damage. When Zhou Yu uses Special, he also inflicts Inferno on all enemies.

C
Liu Bei	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Wind	Faction: Shu
	As the King of the Eastern Han dynasty and the Leader of Shu, Liu Bei synergizes with Officers from the Shu Faction, enhancing their Max HP and Guard Regen. Furthermore, he also heals allies whenever he uses his Launch skill.
Guan Yu	Attribute: Strength	Element: Lightning	Faction: Shu
	Known as the God of War, Guan Yu guarantees a Critical Hit whenever he strikes an opponent without a Guard and his Crit DMG is also greatly increased. What’s more, enemies hit by his Musou will have their DEF reduced until the end of the battle.
Zhang Chunhua	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Ice	Faction: Jin
	Loving mother to Sima Shi and Sima Zhao, Zhang Chunhua is capable of inflicting Frost on enemies upon landing a Critical Hit. Enemies afflicted with Frost will also receive more damage.
Zhang Fei	Attribute: Strength	Element: Fire	Faction: Shu
	Oath brother of Liu Bei and Guan Yu, Zhang Fei is a tenacious warrior who becomes stronger as he loses HP. Furthermore, when his Musou lands a hit, there is a chance of removing an Elemental Enchant from the enemy.
Sun Jian	Attribute: Strength	Element: Fire	Faction: Wu
	Sometimes called the Tiger of Jiangdong, Sun Jian is a great ally to have as he decreases the damage taken for everyone. In addition, when Sun Jian is at 40% HP or lower, all allied Wu Officers will gain additional ATK.
Zhou Tai	Attribute: Agility	Element: Slash	Faction: Wu
	Apart from self-healing, Zhou Tai also temporarily decreases his own DEF for more ATK after using his Assault skill. He also deals more damage against any enemies without a Guard.
Sima Yi	Attribute: Agility	Element: Ice	Faction: Jin
	Armed with the Malicious Glare Inherent Tactic, Sima Yi deals more DMG against any enemies with no Elemental Enchants. In addition, increases his ATK when there are Wei or Jin Officers in the Squad.
Guan Ping	Attribute: Agility	Element: Lightning	Faction: Shu
	The adopted son of Guan Yu deals more Guard DMG after the first few seconds of combat and whenever he hits an enemy without Guard, he stops them from recovering Guard for a few seconds.
Hua Xiong	Attribute: Strength	Element: Lightning	Faction: Unaffiliated
	Hua Xiong is a lone wolf and prefers to do things his way, gaining a very high amount of DEF when there are no allied Officers on the battlefield.
Guan Xing	Attribute: Agility	Element: Lightning	Faction: Shu
	When Guan Xing enters combat, summons Thunder and depletes nearby enemy Officers’ Guard, stopping them from recovering Guard.
Zhang Jiao	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Fire	Faction: Unaffiliated
	Whenever Zhang Jiao enters combat, he inflicts all enemies nearby with Inferno and Fear. To add, whenever Zhang Jiao attacks a burned enemy, he deals more Guard damage and ignores their DEF.
Xingcai	Attribute: Strength	Element: Wind	Faction: Shu
	Xingcai can serve as a healer for the team, recovering their HP every 3 seconds when they have less than 40% HP. She can also enhance her allies’ healing received and reduce damage taken.

D
Yuan Shu	Attribute: Strength	Element: Ice	Faction: Unaffiliated
	When he enters battle, all enemy Officers will target him. Sure, he does negate incoming Guard damage but still…
Xiaoqiao	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Wind	Faction: Wu
	She mainly plays the role of a healer where her Launch skill recovers HP to allies. However, there are better healers than her.
Li Dian	Attribute: Strength	Element: Ice	Faction: Wei
	Can reflect some damage and that’s about it.
Cao Xiu	Attribute: Strength	Element: Lightning	Faction: Wei
	Cao Xiu can stack up Crit DMG until the end of the battle but the only time he can reliably pull this off is during the first 5 seconds of entering the field.
Jia Xu	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Fire	Faction: Wei
	Decreases allied Officer’s Skill Cooldown but others do it better than him.
Han Dang	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Lightning	Faction: Wu
	A specialist that focuses on decreasing Guard damage taken but not overall damage.
Ding Feng	Attribute: Agility	Element: Fire	Faction: Wu
	Can stack up ATK boost upon hitting an enemy Officer, but only works on Officers.
Guo Huai	Attribute: Agility	Element: Fire	Faction: Jin
	Increases ATK when no allied Officers are on the battlefield, and that is about it.
Zhou Cang	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Wind	Faction: Shu
	Zhou Cang can heal allies but only while Wind Enchant is active.
Liu Shan	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Ice	Faction: Shu
	As an R unit, he has nothing special about him and possesses no unique abilities.
Zhuge Dan	Attribute: Intelligence	Element: Fire	Faction: Jin
	Like Liu Shan, he is an R unit and thus possesses no unique abilities.
Xun You	Attribute: Agility	Element: Wind	Faction: Wei
	Another R unit.
