Sonic Roll, a new board game based on the titular blue hedgehog has been revealed by Kess Entertainment to be coming early next year.
Announced on Kess Entertainment’s official Twitter, Sonic Roll is a 1-4 player board game that is set to release sometime in January 2024.
Not much information has been unveiled yet, but the Twitter post described the game as a 1-4 player semi-cooperative game, thus means players can still be able to play Sonic Roll alone if there are no friends to join in.
The game will allow players to take on the role of Sonic, Tails, Amy, or Knuckles, and they would have to cooperate to clear stages, overcome Badniks, and defeat series antagonist Dr. Eggman.
An interesting aspect to note is that the general color scheme and box art seem to be greatly inspired by the Sega Genesis era of Sonic.
This is not Kess Entertainment’s first venture into video game IPs as the Los Angeles-based tabletop company has previously worked with Capcom on releasing a similar board game based on the Mega Man series, called Mega Man Adventures.
Another notable release by Kess Entertainment is a card game based on the shōnen manga series by Tatsuya Endo, Spy x Family: Mission for Peanuts.
At the moment, no further information is available for Sonic Roll yet, however, those interested can sign up for updates through the board game’s official website.
