In search of the best scoop, Charlotte has finally landed her way into Genshin Impact with the version 4.2 update, Masquerade of the Guilty.
Indefatigable journalist of the Steambird, Charlotte would persistently hunt for the truth of anything that piques her interest, even if it may lead her into danger. Despite being the first Fontaine character to be ever introduced in Genshin Impact, Charlotte is finally making her debut alongside the much-anticipated Hydro Archon herself, Furina.
Armed with her trusty Kamera Monsieur Verite, Charlotte is a 4★ Catalyst wielder with the elemental vision of Cryo in Genshin Impact. As a citizen of Fontaine, Charlotte has the Arkhe alignment mechanic and would align herself with Pneuma.
Talents
Normal Attack – Cool-Color Capture
For her Normal Attack, Charlotte attempts to overwhelm enemies with obnoxious Kamera flashes, taking aim at her enemies with Monsieur Verite and snap, snap, snap. Charlotte will perform up to 3 consecutive attacks, dealing Cryo DMG with each Kamera flash.
When performing her Charged Attack, Charlotte would then consume some Stamina and deploy Monsieur Verite to unleash AoE Cryo DMG. As a Fontaine citizen, Charlotte would summon a Spiritbreath Thorn to descend at certain intervals when executing Charged Attack, dealing Pneuma-aligned AoE Cryo DMG.
Elemental Skill – Framing: Freezing Point Composition
As an ace reporter with keen senses, Charlotte utilizes her superb photography skills to snap some shots, producing different effects depending on whether the ability is cast through Tapped or Held.
Tap
When tapped, Charlotte immediately takes a snapshot, dealing AoE Cryo DMG to enemies in front of her, and applies Snappy Silhouette to up to 5 targets for 6 seconds. While under the Snappy Silhouette effect, affected enemies will be dealt Cryo DMG at intervals every 1.5 seconds.
Hold
When held, Charlotte will pop up her Monsieur Verite’s viewfinder, entering Composition Mode. During this stance, Charlotte can move and change direction freely for 15 seconds as she tries to take a shot. As you hold, the viewfinder expands and enters the Finisher Frame state after 1.5 seconds.
When unleashing the Skill before reaching Finisher Frame, deal Cryo DMG to a maximum of 5 enemies locked on within the viewfinder, and inflict them with Snappy Silhouette.
While ending the hold once reaching the Finisher Frame, Charlotte applies Focused Impression, which will have a longer Skill CD, but in exchange for double the duration of Snappy Silhouette and deals more DMG.
Elemental Burst – Still Photo: Comprehensive Confirmation
Condensing ice to create The Steambird’s signature, Charlotte creates a Newsflash Field for 4 seconds. The Newsflash Field will cause Monsieur Venite to deal AoE Cryo DMG to enemies while restoring HP to active allies within the AoE based on Charlotte’s ATK continuously.
Passive Skill (1st Ascension) – Moment of Impact
When enemies marked by Focused Impression applied by the Hold version of her Elemental Skill are defeated, the cooldown of the Skill is decreased by 2 seconds. This cooldown reduction effect can be triggered 4 times every 12 seconds.
Passive Skill (4th Ascension) – Diversified Investigation
When the party consists of 1/2/3 Fontainians other than Charlotte herself, she gains a 5%/10%/15% increased Healing Bonus.
On the other hand, when there are 1/2/3 non-Fontainians in the squad, Charlotte gains an additional 5%/10%/15% Cryo DMG Bonus.
Ability Breakdown
Those eagerly waiting for Charlotte’s arrival will be pleased to know that she will be a very competent support. Having a rather straightforward gameplay, her simple kit allows her to be flexible and fit nicely into any team composition.
The way to utilize her in combat is straightforward, simply use her Skill to apply Cryo DMG over time and Burst to heal teammates, while keeping her off-field until you need to reapply all her abilities again.
There are a few things to note about her Elemental Skill, however, especially in regards to when is it appropriate to use the Tap or Hold version. Generally speaking, you would want to prioritize using the Hold version more as not only do the effects last longer, but they deal more Cryo DMG overall, and generate more particles for her Energy needs.
However, note that when using the Hold version, enemies have to be in the frame during the snapshot, or else enemies will not be marked.
That said, there are situations where you would want to use the Tap version since Charlotte has no innate Interruption Resistance while holding her Skills, making her rather vulnerable to staggers and having her ability canceled.
Constellations
Charlotte’s overall kit is quite functional at C0, however, her Constellations do add helpful functions to her kit, especially in terms of healing capabilities.
Constellations | ||||
C1 - A Need to Verify Facts
Abbreviated Effect: | After Elemental Burst heals an ally, mark them with Verification for 6 seconds, healing them every 2 seconds for 80% of Charlotte’s ATK.
Notes: | A strong boost to Charlotte’s healing and a worthy Constellation to aim for, making her better at her job.
C2 - A Duty to Pursue Truth
Abbreviated Effect: | When her Skill hits 1/2/3 or more enemies, boost Charlotte’s ATK by 10%/20%/30% for 12 seconds.
Notes: | But you can’t handle the truth, Charlotte! Improves her off-field DPS and healing potency slightly.
C3 - An Imperative to Independence
Abbreviated Effect: | Increases Elemental Burst level by 3 and the max upgrade level to 15.
Notes: | Hey, that is more healing…
C4 - A Responsibility to Oversee
Abbreviated Effect: | If Skill hits any enemies already marked, deals 10% more DMG. Moreover, restores 2 Energy to Charlotte up to 5 times every 20 seconds.
Notes: | If you are going all out on getting her Constellations, this will be the main target as it greatly improves her Energy needs.
C5 - A Principle of Conscience
Abbreviated Effect: | Increases Elemental Skill level by 3 and the max upgrade level to 15.
Notes: | Slight boost to her Skill’s DMG. Otherwise, not worth aiming for.
C6 - A Summation of Interest
Abbreviated Effect: | Normal and Charged Attacks against enemies marked by Skill’s Focused Impression mark, Monsieur Verite will perform coordinated attacks that deal 180% of Charlotte’s ATK as AoE Cryo DMG and heals the active ally for 42% of her ATK. Triggers every 6 seconds and both DMG and healing effects are treated the same as her Burst.
Notes: | Extra source of Cryo application and healing but the 6-second buffer is a huge downside for an otherwise great Constellation. |

Teams & Character Synergies
Due to her straightforward kit and her clear-cut role, Charlotte can easily be any team that requires a healer and Cryo application, whether be the meta staples like Bloom-based teams or Melt. Here are some team examples:
Neuvillette’s Courtroom (Hypercarry)
Support | Main DPS | Sub-DPS / Support | Sub-DPS / Support |
Charlotte | Neuvillette | Furina | Kazuha |
Joining along Hydro Archon Furina in her banner, Charlotte provides the much-needed heals as Furina drains HP away. Of course, Neuvillette goes Comet Azur and unleashes big massive damage with Furina and Kazuha buffing him up more.
Wriothesley and the Freezy (Perma-Freeze)
Support | Main DPS | Sub-DPS / Support | Sub-DPS / Support |
Charlotte | Wriothesley | Furina | Xingqiu |
In general, any DPS characters can work well with Charlotte as she is there to provide heals and Cryo application. The recent Cryo boxer Wriothesley is no exception, especially with the recently added Furina and meta staple Xingqiu amplifying his damage output.
Archon’s Smart Fridge (Fridge)
Support | Main DPS | Sub-DPS / Support | Sub-DPS / Support |
Charlotte | Ayato | Furina | Nahida |
Bloom-based reaction teams can also make good use of Charlotte and her Freeze, locking enemies in place for the Bloom Cores to go kaboom.
Boken da Melting Ice (Reverse Melt)
Support | Main DPS | Sub-DPS / Support | Sub-DPS / Support |
Charlotte | Xiangling | Bennett | Rosaria |
Another team that Charlotte will feel right at home is a Reverse Melt, providing Cryo application from off-field while healing allies.
Ice Queens and Kazuha (Mono Cryo)
Support | Main DPS | Sub-DPS / Support | Sub-DPS / Support |
Charlotte | Ayaka | Shenhe | Kazuha |
Not quite a meta team but can certainly work in some scenarios. |
Final Thoughts
Going on a never-ending search for the best scoop, Charlotte is indeed a great addition to the healer roster of Genshin Impact with powerful support capabilities. Since both her heals and damage scales with ATK, she can also inflict decent off-field Cryo damage and application, allowing her to comfortably roll around with teams that synergize with Cryo.
Coming along with Furina, she almost seems tailored to support the Hydro Archon in keeping the team alive. While she is a great healer, she can only rejuvenate allies with her Elemental Burst, so you would need to build a lot of Energy Recharge on her for healing consistency.
While Charlotte may not be the first character to come to mind when selecting a healer for your team, her straightforward yet effective kit makes her a worthwhile character to be considered pulling for.
