World of Warcraft(WoW) has announced The War Within, the next major expansion for the MMO as well as the start of its upcoming Worldsoul Saga at Blizzcon.
WoW: The War Within will release in 2024 with no specific date locked in yet, though the expansion will largely focus on The Void as a major enemy, alongside classic characters like Anduin and Thrall being plagued by visions.
It also features the return of Xal’atath, Harbringer of the Void first encountered in World of Warcraft: Legion.
The expansion will also feature Delved, content aimed at giving shorter bite-sized adventures for players with endgame rewards.
Delve adventures will feature a Seasonal NPC, with customizable talents and abilities and a treasure trove at the end of every Delve.
They also gave an early look at Nerub’ar Palace, one of the raids available in the dungeon
Similar with other expansions, The War Within will also feature a new allied race, the Earthen, available to both Horde and Alliance players after completing the pre-requisite quest.
In terms of quality of life, the game will also feature Dynamic Flight for flying mounts used by players, as well as Hero Talents- a new evergreen power system for enhancing the gameplay of various classes using skillpoints gained by leveling after level 70.
These are node-based skill trees, with Blizzard promising enough skill points to try out the different trees.
Finally, they also announced the addition of Warbands- allowing players to transfer items between their various alternate characters.
The War Within is the first chapter of the upcoming Worldsoul Saga- a three-expansion story that continues in World of Warcraft Midnight and concludes in World of Warcraft: The Last Titan.
Blizzard has also confirmed that these expansions would also return to The Old World for The Last Titan and Midnight.
The announcement of the Worldsoul Saga also confirms speculation that the upcoming patch for Dragonflight would also be the conclusion for the expansion.
