SEGA has announced the end of service schedule for the mobile shoot ’em up 404 Game Re:Set, less than a year since its launch.
According to the announcement, 404 Game Re:Set is scheduled to end its service on the 5th of January, 2023.
Service Termination Schedule
In the announcement, SEGA details the schedule of service termination as follows:
- Termination of in-app purchases – 30 October 2023, at 4 PM (JST)
- Termination of new account registration – 5 January 2023, at 12 PM (JST)
- Termination of game service – 5 January 2023, at 12 PM (JST)
The publisher also noted that refunds will be made available after the maintenance completion on 5 January 2023.
However, details are still uncertain and will only be announced at a later date.
For the remaining 2 months, the development team highlights that they will continue to roll out a variety of content for players, and will even do so after the end of service of 404 Game Re:Set.
It was detailed that Chapter 9 of the game will be released on 13 December 2023 and Chapter 10 is planned to come out on the same day as the service ends, on 5 January 2024.
An offline mode was also planned for the game, allowing players to still view their data and various characters or items they have collected.
Although SEGA noted that contents in offline mode may be subject to change without notice if unforeseen circumstances occur.
About 404 Game Re:Set
404 Game Re:Set is a mobile shoot ’em up RPG hybrid for Android and iOS devices that came out exclusively in Japan on 25 April 2023.
The game is known for the involvement of Drakenguard and NieR creator Yoko Taro as the Creative Director and scenario writer.
Set in a fictional world where SEGA became the world’s largest corporation and controls almost every aspect of human lives.
Players take on the role of an average salaryman who got struck by a car and isekai’ed into the digital realm of Cyberspace while on their way to work with SEGA.
Throughout the almost 9 months of runtime, 404 Game Re:Set amassed a total revenue of over $2 million USD in Japan.
The game peaked during the month of launch and had a slow decline in the next month of May. Through its lifespan, the game also garnered a total of 226,138 downloads.
As mentioned, 404 Game Re:Set is ending its service on January 5th, 2024.
