The internet has once again descended into one of its fancies, this time putting the unstable Harry DuBois from Disco Elysium against Light Yagami, also known as Kira from Death Note.
It all started, as many things do, with a meme- user akie_works on Twitter made a chart on Twitter tracking fictional detectives, and placing them against two axes: their ability to solve the Kira case, and their ability to intuit the use of the Death Note.
This list comprises a pretty all-star cast, from Columbo making light work of both tasks to Phoenix Wright somehow bumbling his way into catching Light but never being clued in about the book.

Heck, even Steve from Blues Clues could somehow figure out about the lethal stationery, but possibly due to not understanding the concept of murder not being able to piece together Light as Kira.
However, fans in particular latched on to one result- Harry βTequila Sunsetβ DuBois bagging the Death Note and catching Kira.
A lot of it is down to the bizarre nature of Disco Elysium itself: for those not in the know, the game has you playing an amnesiac detective- struggling with multiple thoughts screaming in his head at the same time, often giving him supernatural levels of insight.
βINT specced harry would clean it up but wouldnβt understand the death note without seeing Ryuk firsthand but psyche specced harry would hit a godly inland empire check and get everything about the death note instantaneouslyβ, writes one Twitter user, Comrasdedrewski.
Others have even decided to follow the spirit of Disco Elysium and act out how the detective would solve the Death Note case- complete with skill checks.
Part of the reason the discussion has ballooned as much as it has is the humor of it all- Death Note features an illogical macguffin in an extremely logical world, meanwhile Disco Elysium allows you to perform superhuman feats of deduction in the most chaotic ways possible.
Itβs a much more fun question than the usual power scalerβs paradise- since it requires fans to actually break down the methods used by their favorite sleuths and decide that maybe Detective Pikachu isnβt as solid as he thinks he is.
