Sony Interactive Entertainment has just announced a brand new Slim model for PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition that’s smaller and lighter compared to previous models.
As mentioned in the PlayStation blog post, the new PS5 model will be available in the United States starting from November at select local retailers and the PlayStation Direct Web Store, with the model rolling out globally in the following months.
As of time of writing, it’s still up in the air as to when the slim version of the PS5 model will arrive in Malaysia.
This new PS5 model has been reduced in volume by more than 30%, and weight by 18% (Standard Edition) and 24% (Digital Edition) compared to previous model; with a 1TB SSD internal storage.
There are four separate cover panels, with the top portion having a new glossy look while keeping the matte material at the bottom part of the device.
Those who are interested in the new PS5 Digital Edition can also add on the Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for PS5, which will be sold separately.
Additionally, a horizontal stand will be included with the new PS5 model; along with a new Vertical Stand that’s compatible with all PS5 models which is sold separately.
It’s worth noting that once inventory of the current PS5 model has sold out, the new PS5 will become the only model available.
