Following up to our previous coverage of EA Sports WRC, Electronic Arts had shared details regarding the game’s various modes and features.
Regularity Rally
Introduced in EA Sports WRC is the Regularity Rally, also known as the Navigation Rally or Endurance Rally in real life, is a different way to experience all the content in the game.
The Regularity Rally is a mode that’s all about arriving at very specific points on a stage at a specific point in time, with penalty points given if players finish the race early or late.
Builder Mode
One of the major features with EA Sports WRC is the Builder Mode, which allows players to build their own modern rally car to real-life competition specs.
Players can build a car in each of the Rally categories, with Rally3 being used for Junior WRC and Rally2 being used for WRC-2.
The game will take the player by the hand and guide them through the car creation process, where players will begin by selecting where one the chassis they want the engine to be positioned because that has a key effect on the weight transfer on the car and its handling characteristics.
Once that’s been determined, the players will then move on to a mechanical hub where they select the entire mechanical makeup of the vehicle. Players will have to balance between spending in-game currency to buy high quality parts and cutting down on repair bills.
After players have chosen all of their mechanic components, they’ll then proceed to the bodywork selection, where they can select a front and back half and then customise these with exterior items such as air intakes, roof scoops, wing mirrors, and more. When it comes to interior customisation, players can select anything that falls within the driver’s eye view, such as the steering wheel or shift indicator.
Once players are satisfied with their product, they can bring them out for a test drive and see how it handles, as well as decorating it with the Delivery Creator.
Moments Mode
The daily challenges from Dirt Rally 2 comes back in the form of the Moments Mode. On a daily basis, players can see a 20 or 30 second video of an action where players will need to imitate. Unlike in Dirt Rally 2 however, these challenges will not disappear after a day, so players can take their time with these challenges.
Career Mode
With Career Mode, players can create their own team and choose to enter at any level of the sport. While some games force you to start at the bottom and work your way up, EA Sports WRC lets players drive right into the premier class if that’s what they want to do.
Once assembling a team, players can start hiring their crew of mechanics, teammates, drivers, and co-driver and even rent them a car to compete in. Players can also manage their garage through the season and work with a benefactor character to manage their budget throughout the season, which is a more realistic representation of the way the sport works.
Quick Play
In Quick Play Solo mode, player can put together a 24-event championship with four stages, each with a variety of different car classes.
Players can also save what they like as a template and take it into Quick Play Multiplayer, where they can play in a 32-player sessions.
Both these modes have a quick-generate feature too if player don’t want to go through the hassle of constructing their own championship by hand.
Time Trial
With the Time Trial mode, players can select any car at any stage in the game and try to set a leaderboard, beating time as well as downloading ghosts to compete against.
Championship Mode
In Championship Mode, players can play as themselves or as one of the licensed drivers in the game and really focus on winning the driver’s championship without any of the team management they might find in the Career Mode.
The club mode is back too, allowing players to play together around the world without needing to be online at the same time.
Rally Schools
The Rally School is here to help new players along with 10 lessons on each of the different surface types, with a time challenge at the end of each.
Livery Editor
EA Sports WRC will be introducing a high-requested feature in Livery Editor. Players can decorate nearly every car in the game however they want. In terms of visuals and cosmetics, there’s the Rally Pass which is five seasons throughout the first year of the game where players can earn XP and unlock cosmetic clothing, items for their driver character, and then also elements for the livery editor on top of liveries for vehicles.
Photo Mode
As the name implies, the Photo Mode is available for players to take pictures of anything they’re up to in the game and share them with the world.
Post-launch
A sneak peek of the post-launch plans for EA Sports WRC would be a VR version of the game on PC in early 2024, as well as an esports mode sometime next year.
EA Sports WRC will be releasing on 3rd November 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
