[TGS2023] Hotel Barcelona, The Newest Game By SUDA51 and SWERY65 Announced

Xbox have given fans a first look at Hotel Barcelona, the newest title from video game Auteurs SUDA51 and SWERY65

At today’s Xbox Livestream for Tokyo Game Show 2023, the two gave a first look at the upcoming action platformer, which draws inspiration from various old slasher films.

While the title has no set release date or platforms outside of an Xbox Series X|S release, the game is set to come out some time in 2024.

You play as a character trapped in a death loop, having to fight off various serial killers to escape, all themed after horror icons like the Xenomorph as well as Friday The 13th’s Jason Voorhees.

However, the game also incorporates a unique use of said death loop, with the Phantom Slasher mechanic allowing you to use previous lives to help you along your current run.

Aside from that your character will also have access to a variety of weapons, from circular saw blades to pistols for fighting off the various enemies, as well as movement options like wall jumps.

The trailer even shows off dive kicks, giving players a fair bit of movement options for killing their prey.

There’s also a power up state called Carnival Awakening, wherein the player will be able to pull off huge attacks for big damage against bosses.

Hotel Barcelona would mark the first game with SUDA51’s involvement since his company, Grasshopper Manufacture, was acquired by NetEase.
