The Pokemon Company have just announced a new live action weekly drama for Japan. The first episode will air on 19th October, with new episodes coming out every Thursday.
The live action drama follows the story of the main character, Madoka Akagi who moves to Tokyo to work after graduating, but received a gift of a copy of Pokemon Red from her mother. The show tells the story of how Akagi dives into the world of Pokemon.
Madoka Akagi is played by actress Nanase Nishino, who’s known for her roles in The Blood of Wolves II as Mao Chikada, as well as the latest Shin Kamen Rider movie as Hachi Augment-01. She also had won the Outstanding Supporting Actress and Actor awards at the 45th Japan Academy Awards.
Nishino is said to have played through most of the Pokemon series ever since she was a child. This comical and heart-warming film tells the theme of friends and growth in a human’s daily life which are linked to the Pokemon games.
“I was surprised to hear about this offer a few days after I had told a friend that I would like to work on a job related to Pokémon one day. I’m very happy because I’m one of the generation that grew up with Pokémon, having played most of the series, from the first to the latest.” said Nishino
