Character Preview
Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae is a 5★ Imaginary-Type character who walks the Path of Destruction. He specializes in bolstering his Basic ATK power through stacking enhancements, leading to destructive damage.
The breakdown of his kit is as follows:
Beneficent Lotus (Basic ATK)
Unleashes 2 hits to deal Imaginary DMG to a single target.
Dracore Libre (Skill)
Enhances Basic ATK, and can be applied up to 3 times consecutively. Enhanced once to obtain Transcendence, twice to gain Divine Spear, and thrice to get Fulgurant Leap.
Using this ability does not consume Skill Points and is not considered as using a Skill. After using Dracore Libre, you still can cancel the Enhancement effect before using the Enhanced Basic ATK.
Transcendence (Enhanced Basic ATK 1)
Consumes a Skill Point to deliver a 3-hit combo that deals Imaginary DMG to a single target.
Divine Spear (Enhanced Basic ATK 2)
Consumes 2 Skill Points to deliver a 5-hit combo that deals Imaginary DMG to a single target.
Starting from the fourth hit, adjacent enemies will also receive Imaginary DMG and additionally, Imbibitor Lunae gains a stack of “Outroar” before every hit, increasing his CRIT DMG until the end of his turn.
Fulgurant Leap (Enhanced Basic ATK 3)
Consumes 3 Skill Points to deliver a 7-hit combo that deals Imaginary DMG to a single target.
Starting from the fourth hit, adjacent enemies will also receive Imaginary DMG and additionally, Imbibitor Lunae gains a stack of “Outroar” before every hit, increasing his CRIT DMG until the end of his turn.
Azure’s Aqua Ablutes All (Ultimate)
Delivers a 3-hit combo that deals Imaginary DMG to a single target and the adjacent enemies. Gains Squama Sacrosancta, which stacks up to a limit.
Thereafter, Imbibitor Lunae may consume Squama Sacrosancta in place of Skill Points.
Righteous Heart (Talent)
After each hit during an attack, Imbibitor Lunae gains a stack of Righteous Heart and increases his DMG. The stacks last until the end of his turn.
Heaven-Quelling Prismadrakon (Technique)
Upon activation, Imbibitor Lunae enters the Leaping Dragon state which lasts for a certain duration. While in the Leaping Dragon state, using attack enables him to dash forward a set distance, attacking all enemies he touches and blocking all incoming attacks.
After entering combat through attacking enemies while in the Leaping Dragon state, deals Imaginary DMG to all enemies and gains Squama Sacrosancta.
Ascension Traces
Star Veil (Ascension 2) – At the start of a battle, immediately regenerates a set amount of Energy.
Aqua Reign (Ascension 4) – Increases the chance for Imbibitor Lunae to resist Crowd Control debuffs.
Jolt Anew (Ascension 6) – Imbibitor Lunae’s CRIT DMG increases when dealing damage to enemies weak to Imaginary.
Based on his kit, Imbibitor Lunae’s strength lies in his Basic ATK enhancement through his Skill, Dracore Libre, with each tier of enhancement yielding more damage in combination with his Talent, Righteous Heart, but in exchange, more Skill Points will be spent.
While Imbibitor Lunae may require a lot of Skill usage, his Ultimate, Azure’s Aqua Ablutes All, made it so that Skill Points would be more manageable through stacks of Squama Sacrosancta, which acts as an alternative to Skill Points.
Eidolons
Overall, Imbibitor Lunae is already a force to be reckoned with at E0 but if you have the Stellar Jades to spare, you can consider pulling for his duplicates as each of his Eidolons further boosts his damage output, making him a monster at Imaginary DPS.
His Eidolon 1, Tethered to Sky, increases the number of stackable Righteous Heart stacks by 4, and grants 1 extra stack of the buff for each hit per attack. This speeds up the progress to gain the maximum stack of Righteous Heart, and in turn, boosts his damage further.
Next, we have his Eidolon 2, Imperium On Cloud Nine, which causes Imbibitor Lunae’s action to be Advanced Forward by 100% after he uses his Ultimate and additionally, grants 1 extra stack of Squama Sacrosancta. Another Eidolon that further enhances his DPS by allowing him to take turns faster while also having to spend fewer Skill Points.
For his Eidolon 4, Zephyr’s Bliss, Imbibitor Lunae will keep the Outroar buff granted by his Enhanced ATK until the end of the next turn, further amplifying his DPS for another round.
Lastly, his Eidolon 6 is called “Reign, Returned“, which grants him 20% Imaginary Penetration for his next Fulgurant Leap attack for up to 3 stacks after any of his allies uses their Ultimate. Another Eidolon that further amplifies his already impressive damage output.
Suggested Relic Set
For Relic choices, we recommend the 4-piece Wastelander of Banditry Desert for Imbibitor Lunae, which increases Imaginary DMG and grants him with additional CRIT Rate when attacking enemies under a debuff. Additionally, if an enemy is Imprisoned, grant an extra 20% CRIT DMG to him. However, since the CRIT Rate is only granted if enemies are under a debuff, you would also need an ally who can apply debuffs to foes in the team.
If you are unable to consistently activate the 4-piece effect of Wastelander of Banditry Desert through frequent debuffs, then wearing only 2 pieces of it and pairing it with a 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat would still be ideal for Imbibitor Lunae. Alternatively, you can go with 4 pieces of Musketter of Wild Wheat for the ATK boost.
For Planar Ornaments, there are a few viable options depending on what you want to focus on for your Imbibitor Lunae build. In general, we recommend Rutilant Arena for him, which increases his CRIT Rate by 8% and additionally, boosts his Basic ATK and Skill DMG by 20% when Imbibitor Lunae has achieved a CRIT Rate of more than 70%.
Other viable options are Space Sealing Station if you prefer to focus on ATK or Sprightly Vonwacq if you require more Energy Regeneration Rate. For his stats, Imbibitor Lunae is quite simple to build since his primary focus would just be dealing damage, so aim to target as much ATK% as possible for him and hit the appropriate CRIT Rate CRIT DMG ratio.
Suggested Light Cones
As with all 5★ limited characters in Honkai Star Rail, their signature Light Cone will be their best-in-slot and Imbibitor Lunae is no exception.
His signature Light Cone, Brighter Than the Sun, grants Imbibitor Lunae with increased CRIT Rate, and whenever he uses Basic ATK, gains 1 stack of Dragon’s Call, up to a maximum of 2, and lasts for 2 turns. Each stack of Dragon’s Call will further increase Imbibitor Lunae’s ATK and Energy Regeneration Rate. All in all, a very powerful Light Cone that can grant the wearer a large amount of offensive stats.
If you are not planning to pull for his signature Light Cone, another great alternative is the 5★ On the Fall of an Aeon from Herta’s Store, which you can exchange for by using 8 Herta Bonds from the Simulated Universe. The Light Cone grants the wearer with increased ATK whenever they attack and if they manage to inflict a Weakness Break on enemies, boosts their overall DMG for 2 turns as well.
For 4★ options, you could consider Under the Blue Sky, which passively increases the wearer’s ATK and if they managed to defeat an enemy, additionally bolster their CRIT Rate for 3 turns. Another decent choice would be A Secret Vow, which grants the wielder up to 80% DMG increase as long as they are attacking enemies with higher health points.
Final Thoughts
While at first glance, Imbibitor’s kit might look confusing due to the long ability description, however, once you figure out his mechanics, he is actually a rather straightforward character to play.
A few important notes to understand his playstyle are that he only consumes Skill Points when you use the Enhanced Basic ATK so you can plan how to utilize the enhancements depending on situations, and Squama Sacrosancta obtained through his Ultimate or Technique can be used in place of Skill Points.
Since Imbibitor Lunae is very Skill Point hungry, you will need to form a team of supports that do not consume Skill Point as often to balance out the Skill Point economy. Supports like Tingyun, Pela, Silver Wolf, Preservation Trailblazer, and Luocha are great allies since they are characters that do not use Skill Points as often. Meanwhile, Bronya is not a recommended support for Imbibitor Lunae since the optimal way to play her is to use her Skill every turn.
If you are arming your Imbibitor with a 4-piece Wastelander of Banditry Desert, Welt is an amazing support as he can consistently apply Slow and Imprison enemies to trigger the Relic set’s effects.
In terms of offense, Imbibitor Lunae might just be one of the strongest DPS to come to Honkai Star Rail, but to unleash devastating damage, he needs to spend a lot of Skill Points, which may not be easy to play without careful planning. Since he is purely a DPS through and through, consider yourself if you need another damage dealer or to save up for other future utility-based characters.
