If you ever feel nostalgic for 90s JRPGs with their charming pixelated graphics, Broken Blade might be the game for you, which is what we got to play at the Busan Indie Connect Festival 2023.
Broken Blade is a tactical turn-based RPG set in a high fantasy world where players take on the role of an observer of the world’s fate, and must now work to assist Camomile, a former empress, and her allies.
The game focuses on the fundamentals of classic turn-based RPG, emphasizing strategic play and character progression where each party member has their own set of abilities that can be further altered through their dedicated skill tree. Additionally, players can also form a bond with their party members through conversations.
Prelude & Airgetlam
The demo we got to try at the Busan Indie Connect Festival 2023 is titled “Broken Blade: Prelude“, which is also available on Steam with two available options, a free version or a paid edition. However, according to the developers, both versions are almost identical apart from some presence or absence of specific challenges. Achievements are also only available for the paid version.
According to DakeCraft, the developers of the game, while the demo build for the exhibition is only 15 minutes long, the Steam version will take approximately one and a half hours to complete.
There will also be a full game called “Broken Blade: Airgetlam“, coming soon but DakeCraft has no plans on when the title will be released yet.
The demo, Broken Blade: Prelude is now currently available on Steam, while Broken Blade: Airgetlam, the full game has no official release date yet.
Anyone interested in the development of the game can follow DakeCraft’s official Twitter for updates.
