During the Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2023, Zack Synder, the director behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead took on the stage to reveal Rebel Moon, an epic two-part sci-fi film.
Rebel Moon is a two-part science fiction epic directed by Zack Synder and stars Sofia Boutella in a space adventure, and will premier exclusively on Netflix starting 22 December 2023 with Part One: A Child of Fire, followed by Part Two: The Scargiver on 19 April 2023.
Synopsis
When a peaceful colony living on the edge of the galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of evil tyrannical rulers, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their hope in a fight for survival.
Kora is tasked to find and unite a group of trained warriors from different planets, including outsiders, insurgents, peasants, and war orphans, all sharing a common goal of vengeance and redemption to make an impossible against the Mother World.
As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
Aside from Sofia Boutella, the movie will also star other big names like Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Anthony Hopkins, and many other well-known actors.
In addition to the films, Zack Synder also mentioned that a Rebel Moon video game is in the works and its story will take place after the movies.
Not much information about the Rebel Moon video game or its developers has been revealed yet.
As mentioned, Rebel Moon will be split into two parts with Part One: A Child of Fire scheduled to release exclusively on Netflix starting 22 December 2023, followed by Part Two: The Scargiver on 19 April 2024.
