Akatsuki Games has announced Project Akatsuki, an upcoming fast-paced 3D cyberpunk ninja-themed hack-and-slash game for mobile devices.
Tentatively titled Project Akatsuki, the action game was revealed at the Akatsuki Games Now livestream where developer Akatsuki Games announces their new titles.
According to the developers, Project Akatsuki has been in development for the past year and is heavily influenced by anime and mangas.
The action title will take place in a neon-filled cyberpunk-style world known as Akatsuki City and players will control characters that follow a ninja motif.
Furthermore, the character designs take heavy inspiration from Japanese mythologies with each character resembling Yōkai such as an Oni or other supernatural creatures.
About Project Akatsuki
Set in Akatsuki City, players will control a squad of 3 characters to fight their way through hordes of enemies.
Akatsuki Games note that the game will emphasize “speed” greatly in its action combat and will feature cutscenes rendered completely in-engine, developed with the same technology as the developers’ other title, TRIBE NINE.
From the gameplay showcase, the game seems to incentivize proper squad compositions as specific members tag in and out to perform a special team-based cinematic attack.
Each character revealed also seems to possess widely distinctive fighting styles and weapon choices such as Mio Sakagami swinging around a gigantic mace that can change its form, while Mikuru Susa rides a motorbike as her weapon.

The developers have not revealed details regarding Project Akatsuki’s release date and regions yet.
Additionally, while the developers stated that the game is a mobile title, they did not confirm if the game will release for both Android and iOS devices simultaneously.
