SEGA has released the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming hero-based shooter, HYENAS.
Hyenas is an upcoming multiplayer extraction shooter developed by SEGA that adopts a hero-based gameplay approach, bringing together five teams of three players each.
Similar to Valorant and Apex Legends, HYENAS offers players the choice to select from a diverse range of characters, each equipped with their own distinct set of abilities.
Every character brings a distinct flavor to the arena, which will contribute to the game’s dynamic and varied gameplay experience from match to match.
In Hyenas, players will find themselves engaged in intense fast-paced battles, not only against each other but also against NPC security teams named MURFS.
The main objective revolves around a high-stakes race to seize prized pop culture collectibles, set against the backdrop of vast and intricately themed Plunderships.
A unique feature that distinguishes HYENAS from other arena shooters is the incorporation of zero-gravity combat in certain portions of the game.
This will provide players with chances to execute impressive plays in a weightless environment.
In the trailer, we can see that one of the said pop culture collectibles you’ll be fighting to obtain is a Sonic figurine.
This seems to indicate that a lot of the collectibles will be something related to SEGA IPs.
Some other pop culture easter eggs and references can be seen in the trailer such as the iconic Atari logo in the map.
HYENAS will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Mac, though a release date has not been announced yet.
