NetherRealm Studios has revealed more details for the closed beta test for Mortal Kombat 1 that will be available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, including the fighters, Kameo characters, and stages.
The closed beta test for Mortal Kombat 1 is scheduled to run from August 18, 2023, to August 21, 2023, as confirmed by NetherRealm on an official Twitter post.
The developers have also revealed the exact time the closed beta goes live in different regions, namely the United States, Europe, and Australia:
- United States of America: 18 August 2023, 8 AM PDT – 21 August 2023, 8 AM PDT
- Europe and UK: 18 August 2023, 4 PM BST – 21 August 2023, 4 PM BST.
- Australia and New Zealand: 19 August 2023, 1 AM AEST – 22 August 2023, 1 AM AEST
The Fighters
The combatants who will be featured in the Mortal Kombat 1 closed beta test are also revealed, including 6 playable fighters, and 4 Kameo characters who can provide assists during battle.
The 6 playable fighters will be:
- Liu Kang
- Sub-Zero
- Kenshi
- Kitana
- Johnny Cage
- Li Mei
Interestingly, Scorpion is not part of the closed beta roster despite being one of the series’ most popular characters.
On the other hand, the Kameo fighters that will show up include:
- Kano
- Sonya
- Jax
- Frost
NetherRealm has also confirmed that players can engage in their battle in 2 different available stages, which are The Teahouse and Johnny Cage’s Mansion.
In addition, the single-player Klassic Tower game mode will also be available for players, which has players challenging a series of computer-controlled opponents.
How to Join
The Mortal Kombat 1 closed beta test will be available exclusively to players who have pre-ordered a copy of the game.
Anyone who has pre-ordered Mortal Kombat 1 digitally will be eligible to receive access to the closed beta test through their consoles automatically.
Players who pre-ordered a physical copy through a retailed store will receive the beta code through distribution by the retailers and users will need to redeem the code through a Warner Bros. Games account.
Pre-orders for all versions of Mortal Kombat 1 on either the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S are eligible for the Closed Beta Access.
Furthermore, Xbox Series X|S owners will have the advantage to preload the Mortal Kombat 1 closed beta beginning on the 15th of August, 2023 as confirmed by NetherRealm.
On the flip side, PlayStation 5 owners will have to wait until the closed beta starts on August 18, 2023, to download the game.
Unfortunately, the developers have also confirmed that the closed Beta test will not be available for Nintendo Switch or PC players.
