As with every new region release in Genshin Impact, comes brand new Artifact sets to be obtainable and Fontaine is no exception as it adds the Golden Troupe and Marechaussee Hunter set to the game.
As such we will look into the new Golden Troupe and Marechaussee Hunter Artifact sets in Genshin Impact to see if they are valuable to grind for and which character can take advantage of them.
When the nation of Hydro opens its doors in Genshin Impact, both Golden Troupe and Marechaussee Hunter Artifact set will be obtainable from the Denouement of Sin Domain in the Bellau Region of Fontaine.
Golden Troupe
The Golden Troupe Artifact set has the following effects when worn with multiple pieces of it:
- 2-Piece – Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 20%.
- 4-Piece – Increases Elemental Skill DMG by 25%. Additionally, when not on the field, Elemental Skill DMG will be further increased by 25%. This effect will be cleared 2 seconds after taking the field.
Based on the effects, the Golden Troupe set is undeniably a great Artifact set for many units and it is extremely flexible to be universally used on almost every character in the game.
When worn with 4 pieces, the Artifact set gives the wearer up to 45% increased Elemental Skill damage passively. If the character is not on the field, further increases the Elemental Skill damage by another 25%, going up to a total of 70% increased damage, which is a lot of damage increase. This means that off-field DPS will receive the most benefits from this Artifact set.
Recommended Characters for Golden Troupe?
One character that comes to mind immediately while reading the Golden Troupe’s effects is Fischl as her playstyle mainly revolves around summoning Oz and staying off the battle. As such, she does not need to be on the field most of the time, thus taking advantage of the further Elemental Skill damage boost. In fact, the Golden Troupe might just become her best-in-slot due to how much damage boost is given to her Oz.
Similarly, Yae Miko is also a great candidate to be equipped with the Golden Troupe, playing a style much like Fischl where she summons Sesshou Sakura through her Elemental Skill and stays off the field. In fact, any characters that utilize summons will be great with Golden Troupe as they will be staying off-field most of the time.
Likewise, Albedo is also a great character to have Golden Troupe as the damage boost will further bolster his Solar Isotoma. That being said if you already have Albedo equipped with an optimized Husk of Opulent Dreams set, there is no reason to farm for Golden Troupe as both sets should provide almost equal strength.
On the other hand, you can also equip the Golden Troupe set to characters with a quick-swap playstyle like Heizou, maximizing his Elemental Skill damage on each rotation. The Golden Troupe set can also be good on Dehya if you plan to run her as an off-field character, however, the Emblem of Severed Fate will still be the more recommended choice for her.
If you want to mix and match Artifacts, the 2-piece effect that increases Elemental Skill damage by 20% is still great for a lot of characters like Alhaitham and can make for viable build options by mixing 2 pieces of Golden Troupe with other sets.
Marechaussee Hunter
The Marechaussee Hunter Artifact set has the following effects when worn with multiple pieces of it:
- 2-Piece – Normal and Charged Attack DMG +15%.
- 4-Piece – When current HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate will be increased by 12% for 5 seconds. Max 3 stacks.
Based on the effects, the Marechaussee Hunter set is an Artifact set that can be great for several main DPS hypercarry characters especially those who can increase or decrease their own health through their own abilities or through the assistance of external sources like ally abilities.
The Marechaussee Hunter set can provide characters with amazing stats, with its 2-piece effect granting 15% increased Normal and Charged Attack damage, which will be universally useful for any main DPS. Its 4-piece effect on the other hand can provide the wearer with up to 36% increased Crit DMG as the wearer’s health value changes.
Recommended Characters for Marechaussee Hunter?
One character that would be great with the Marechaussee Hunter set is Xiao who continuously consumes his own health when he activates his Elemental Burst, Bane of All Evil, triggering the 4-piece effect to gain more CRIT Rate.
While at first glance, many people would assume that the Artifact set would be good for Hu Tao, there are some aspects of her kit that limit her from taking full advantage of the bonus effects. For one, Hu Tao actually rarely changes her health as her Elemental Skill has a long 16 seconds cooldown and lasts for 9 seconds. While her Elemental Burst is often used situationally. Another thing is that Hu Tao’s playstyle demands her to be in low health so bringing healers is not recommended, thus the times of her HP changes are rare for the Artifact’s effect to be utilized. Until there’s a new support that can reliably trigger the Artifact effect for Hu Tao, her go-to would still be Crimson Witch of Flames.
Alternatively, you can also run the Artifact on the main reaction enablers for Bloom or Burgeon teams, having the on-field characters actively taking damage from Dendro Cores. Another character that can take advantage of the Artifact would be Dehya, who actively takes damage for herself over time as allies get hit.
From an early look into both upcoming Fontaine characters, Lyney and Lynette both seem to be able to take advantage of the Artifact as both have abilities that change their health values. HoYoverse might have even designed the set with upcoming Fontaine characters in mind since the first 2 characters already possess abilities to alter health value to activate its 4-piece effect so perhaps more future characters may be able to take advantage of the Artifacts.
Final Thoughts
Overall, both Artifacts are great and worth grinding for, especially the Golden Troupe set as it is extremely flexible and can be used on a variety of characters that are mostly played off-field. The Artifact is also a major buff for Fischl, an already popular character for many team compositions.
On the other hand, the Marechaussee Hunter set is also a good Artifact set to consider grinding for, though note that the bonus effect can be a little niche for the current character roster in the game at the moment. That said, if you have Xiao that has not been built yet, or maybe you are aiming to pull Lyney, you should start grinding up for these characters for the value the Artifact provides.
