Joining Luocha in his limited banner in version 1.1 of Honkai Star Rail is Yukong, the Helm Master of Luofu’s Sky-Faring Commission.
Character Preview
Yukong is a 4-Star Imaginary Type character that walks the Path of Harmony, whose role is to provide buffs to your party members. She’s able to increase the ATK, CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG for all of your allies. The breakdown of her kit is as follows:
- Arrowslinger (Basic ATK) – Deals Imaginary DMG to a target enemy.
- Emboldening Salvo (Skill) – Obtains 2 stacks of Roaring Bowstrings (max 2 stacks). When Roaring Bowstrings is active, the ATK of all allies increases, and every time an ally’s turn ends, Yukong loses 1 stack of Roaring Bowstrings. Yukong will not lose Roaring Bowstrings on the turn she uses her Skill.
- Diving Kestrel (Ultimate) – If Roaring Bowstrings is active when Yukong uses her Ultimate, the CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG of all allies will increase. At the same time, she deals Imaginary DMG to a single target enemy.
- Seven Layers, One Arrow (Talent) – Basic ATK deals additional damage and increases the Toughness-Reducing DMG of the current attack. This effect can be triggered again after a set number of turns. h
- Chasing the Wind (Technique) – After using the Technique, Yukong enters Sprint mode for 20 seconds. In Sprint mode, her Movement SPD increases, and she gains 2 stacks of Roaring Bowstrings when she enters battle via attacking enemies.
Yukong will be joining the limited pool of Imaginary Type characters along with Welt and Luocha. From her kit, we can already see that Yukong will be a very solid support unit while running other strong DPS units on your team as she can buff their damage output pretty consistently. The main appeal of Yukong’s buff however is the fact that she can provide them to ALL of your allies.
Suggested Relic Sets
The Wastelander of Banditry Desert Set is probably her best option as of now as it capitalises on her Basic ATK, Talent and Ultimate by buffing them up. Having an increase to her own CRIT Rate by 10% when attacking a debuffed enemy while also increasing her CRIT DMG by 20% when dealing with imprisoned enemies can be pretty useful.
The stats I would aim for her relics would be ATK% for her Body Piece, SPD for her Feet, Imaginary Damage% for her Planar Sphere and Energy Regeneration Rate% for the Link Rope.
As for her two Planar Ornaments, the Fleet of Ageless set is the most suited for her as she’ll be able to further increase her allies’ ATK by 8% when her SPD is at 120 or more.
Suggested Light Cone
While Yukong doesn’t have her own signature Light Cone, the best one for her would be Past and Future (4-Stars) as it’ll further increase the DMG of the next ally taking action by 16%. The effect also pairs really well with Yukong’s skill since that also increases ATK.
This particular Light Cone is also pretty free-to-play friendly as there’s multiple ways to get it such as spending enough Strate (Xianzhou Luofu’s currency) from the Jeweler’s Pagoda, Echo of War, or buying it from the Messenger in the Parlor Car.
You could run But the Battle Isn’t Over (5-Star) on Yukong too, but the fact that it’s not readily available for everyone and that Yukong doesn’t benefit fully from the Light Cone’s effect isn’t as ideal.
Final Thoughts
While Yukong on her own is a great support, it doesn’t justify spending your Special Rail Passes on the Luocha banner JUST to get her. Unlike Tingyun, Yukong’s buff benefits all of your allies, but also unlike Tingyun, her Roaring Bowstrike stacks decreases every time your ally takes a turn. Because of that, Yukong requires some speed-tuning if you want to keep her buffs up consistently.
We’ll also be getting Yukong for free when version 1.2 rolls around so if you’re not in a rush to get Yukong or not pulling for Luocha on his banner, it’s best to wait till we get her for free.
