Two Blue Archive characters have been censored in the Chinese version of the game in order to show less cleavage in their designs.
Images of the censored Blue Archive characters were shared by user BoreusEntertaiment on the Blue Archive Reddit group. They show the characters Eimi and Shun who have received extra clothing over their chests to cover more of their cleavage.
This is in order to adhere to China’s stricter rules and regulations regarding content that appears in video games, which includes a restriction on partial nudity. Despite this however several risque designs have still made their way into the Chinese version unaltered such as the character Tsubaki who also has a partially revealed chest.
Blue Archive is a tactical role-playing gacha game where the player takes the role of a teacher in Kivotos, the academy city with several schools that house young high school girls that protect the city from disaster. It is your job to lead them into battle.
The series is known for the heavy fanservice of its playable units, most notably the many Bunny girls of the Cleaning and Clearing Club of Millenium Science School. With this in mind, China’s video game regulations were always going to be an issue for the game but hopefully, it won’t affect too many characters.
Blue Archive is available for iOS and Android devices.
