A remake of Super Mario RPG was announced at the recent Nintendo remake Direct. It will launch for the Nintendo Switch on the 17th of November 2023.
Here is the new trailer presented at the direct showing the visual style used in the game:
Super Mario RPG was originally released in 1996 for the Super Nintendo. It was a project co-developed between Square Enix and Nintendo which has made the game difficult to port onto new consoles but it seems to two companies have managed to come to an agreement for this remake.
Super Mario RPG starts with Princess Peach being kidnapped by Bowser as usual however they must soon join forces to stop the evil entity known as Smithy. They are joined by two new characters exclusive to the game, the timid “frog” Mallow and the star-passed puppet with a gun for an arm Geno, aka the guy that everyone wants in Smash Bros despite never appearing in another game, until this one.
It was further announced that Nintendo is working on a new game starring Princess Peach as well as a Remaster of the 3DS game Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon. Both will be coming out for Switch in 2024.
The Super Mario RPG Remake will be available for Switch on November 17th, 2023.
Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon and the Princess Peach game will be released in early 2024.
