The mobile game Captor Clash has released a new update that has seemingly reset some players’ accounts back to Level 1 however this may be caused by players unintentionally changing regional servers.
Allegedly all progress in the game has been deleted, including any in-app purchases with all accounts being forced to start over from the beginning.
“What in the world just happened my account disappeared after the tiny update,” says a Google Play Store review by user REAPERIZER. I thought I mixed up the email addresses but I checked them all and I think my account is gone”.
“I’ve Updated the latest version, 4mb to add to. Can’t say no to it, but once I’ve opened the game again after the update, my account resets, level 55 account and I’ve been grinding it since I’ve enjoyed this game very much, but resetting my account after an update?! This is garbage” says another review by user Archie.
We should not however that many users have on social media including Reddit, and the game’s official Discord have said that their accounts are still intact, meaning that these resets are not happening to all users.
Reddit user Serious_Callers_Only said “I don’t have an issue either, nor does anyone in the guild. Looking at the PvP ranked leaderboard, I would expect to see a few levels 1-10 if this was widespread, but I see none, even going as deep as the top 100. If this was an issue, it seems to be resolved”.
Changing Regional Severs
From what we’ve gathered, this issue may be due to the recent Captor Clash update requiring users to log back into the server that they initially created their account with. Logging in with a different server sets up a new account making it seem as though the game reset.
The Reddit user iPhantaminum pointed out that “I do remember that after some update, the server selection changed to another server upon login, so people just had to select the right server again (but since most people don’t pay attention to that, you can see why the review bomb and claims of the account being deleted)”.
Yesterday, the official Captor Clash Facebook page also shared a new post showing people how to check to see if they’re on the right server and giving instructions on how to change servers if they are not. The fact that they posted these instructions means that they likely knew this would cause issues among some players.
At this point in time, we cannot completely confirm what has caused certain accounts to reset but if it’s happened to your account, it’s best to follow the Captor Clash social media post and see if you’re on the right server.
