Malaysian Indie game Rhythm Doctor has gone on sale to raise money for The National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), following the passing of voice actor Jyi Sim due to lymphoma cancer.
In order to raise money, the game will be sold at 10% off on Steam until the 29th of May at 1:20 AM MYT.
Jyi Sim voiced The Nurse in Rhythm Doctor who helps count and cue for the player as well as singing the game’s Chinese renditions of “One Shift More” and “All The Times”. She passed away in late 2022 following a long battle with lymphoma cancer.
“In the time since mourning the loss of Jyi, we have spoken with her family about ways we can help them in this difficult time,” says the Ryhtm Doctor developers, 7th Beat Games. “At their recommendation, we have decided to raise money for the National Cancer Society Malaysia, an organization to which Jyi herself was a donor for years”.
They have stated that all of the proceeds made from the Rhythm Doctor sale this weekend will go to the NCSM and that they would appreciate any support given to the cause whether buying the game, buying it for a friend, or learning and donating to the NCSM directly.
One of Jyi Sim’s wishes was also to share her experiences with cancer and spread awareness of the issue so others can learn from it. She shared a number of videos on the subject on her youtube account alongside her music. Give them a watch if you have the time.
