During the latest Diablo IV Developer Update Livestream, details regarding the game’s Seasons, optional Battle Pass, and The Shop were revealed.
Post-Launch Experience
In Diablo IV, the post-launch content includes player experiences throughout new seasons, the Season Journey, Battle Pass rewards, new features, long-term maintenance, game balance, and updates. Seasons in Diablo IV will be arriving in the weeks following the game’s launch on 6th June, starting with Season 1. Each season will include a new gameplay feature and questline which introduces new characters, challenges, legendary aspects, meta changes, and QoL improvements.
Each of the seasons will be supported by its own Season Journey, where as player progress through the Season Journey, they are able to earn rewards and gain progress towards the Battle Pass. However, its’ worth noting that there is no way to accelerate the Season Journey.
The Battle Pass is a way to earn rewards and comprised of a Free and Premium Tier, which both can be unlocked by progressing through the game. The Free Battle Pass tiers provides players with gameplay boosts, which allows seasonal characters to level faster. While the Premium Battle Pass tiers allows players to unlock Premium Currencies for the Shop, as well as seasonally themed cosmetics.
Building upon the plethora of amour and weapon styles that players can unlock in the game, the Shop serves to offer players more diverse cosmetic options. However, the cosmetics in the Shop will not grant players any direct or indirect gameplay advantages.
