Epic Seven has released the preview for their newest Moonlight 5* Character, Twisted Eidolon Kayron (ML Kayron) and with the update dropping later today many including myself may be wondering, should we pull for him?
Twisted Eidolon Kayron is a 5* Light Thief that has Health (%) as his Imprint Release, and Critical Hit Chance (%) when Concentrated.
We should note that since Twisted Eidolon Kayron has not been released yet, this will be a first impressions guide based on his recently released character preview that is meant to showcase his abilities.
Animations and Skills
Twisted Eidolon Kayron’s s3 – Sword of Requiem animation sequence looks great, the skill has him uppercutting all enemies with his shadow hand that transforms into a Chaos tornado complete with crackling electricity which eventually ends with an explosion. I genuinely feel that this animation is far superior when compared to the previously released Moonlight hero Architect Laika.
Of course, its not all about the looks (mostly) as the s3 also packs quite the punch. On top of the standard damage values, Sword of Requiem also inflicts 2000 additional fixed damage, which may sound miniscule but if the caster is Enraged, the fixed damage jumps up to 10000 fixed damage which would delete most squishy enemies.
When available (not on cooldown) Sword of Requiem also reduces damage by 30% when suffering a critical hit with the exception that only the strongest effect is applied if there are multiple damage reduction effects in play.
His s1, Sundering Slash – deals damage based on the target’s lost health and can be soulburned for 10 souls to increase the damage dealt. A special condition also exists that when counterattacking, Twisted Eidolon Kayron will trigger Flash Slash instead which attacks all enemies and grants a 1-turn barrier (strength is based on his max health) to himself.
His s2, Wandering Eidolon is a Passive that has him adopting a counterattacking stance for 1 turn at the start of the battle and at the end of the turn. At the end of each enemy’s turn, if the hero has a buff, ML Kayron will gain 10 Fighting Spirit which when full, will increase his Combat Readiness by 35% and makes him enraged for 2 turns.
Suggested Sets and Artifacts
ML Kayron definitely feels like a Tank and Spank type of character, very much different from his Fire type counterpart. He has no immortality and he will only truly pop off once the enemies take turns to ensure his passive, Wandering Eidolon has the time it needs to fill up his Fighting Spirit bar and set up the eventual 10000 fixed damage value.
Not only that he also seems susceptible to debuffs so the most ideal set for the purpose of this guide would be Effect Resistance and Lifesteal Sets. Effect resistance values definitely need to be kept high to make sure he isn’t disabled during the set up, while lifesteal set is to ensure that whenever someone does trigger his counterattack he will stay in the fight a bit longer.
For Artifacts, Dust Devil is still a good option, to further enhance his life-stealing capabilities (if you opt for that set).
Possible Counters
ML Kayron definitely feels like a difficult hero to play at first glance, as the gear requirement feels significantly higher when compared to other Moonlight units. While you could possibly build him up to have 200% effect resistance, certain heroes that can soulburn and ignore effect resistance such as Ran and Briar Witch Iseria would definitely be an issue for him.
Not only that, certain enemy attacks that do not trigger counterattacks such as Landy’s s3 and Spectre Tenebria’s s1, could also potentially counter ML Kayron as they could finish him off before he can get a fully charged s3 off.
Final Thoughts
Twisted Eidolon Kayron is definitely not beginner friendly, his gear requirements do seem on the higher tier side of things and mix that up with the fact that he would need the enemy to move at least 10 turns (to charge up his Fighting Spirit) he is quite a difficult a hero to run if you have been focusing on speed sets throughout this entire time like I was.
However if you have the absolute best gear for him and the right team built to supplement him before his big s3 release, I would say you should roll for him regardless. Besides, much like the previous Moonlight units that came before him, he might also receive a buff that could tweak his overall performance to be much more accessible and definitely more favorable for most. Only time will tell, but I personally would not roll for him.
