Epic Seven has announced that they will be having a Collaboration Rerun with “That Time I Reincarnated As A Slime” (TenSura) starting this week from today till 25th of May (Thursday) 02:59 UTC.
This means that Heroes previously released during that time will also be available to recruit during this period which includes Lord Rimuru, Demon Lord Milim as well as Shuna who can be obtained for free.
For those of you who missed the TenSura collaboration event last year, you probably would have came across Rimuru in both normal Arena and Real-Time Arena (RTA) battles and have a vague idea on what Rimuru brings to the table. However, for those not familiar you might be wondering, “Should I pull for Rimuru?” Read on to find out.
Rimuru is a 5* Earth Warrior that has Effect Resistance as his Imprint Release, and Attack (%) when Concentrated.
Animations and Skills
Rimuru has a great s3 animation in Epic Seven, similar to that of his anime and manga counterpart, his s3 – Devour It, Black Flame! sees him using his Black Flame skill in pure spectacle on a single target. If the attack is successful ( does not miss ) the skill will do an additional 5000 fixed damage (cannot be negated) to the target.
Not only that, the skill also has an additional effect where it could potentially do up to 10,000 fixed damage depending on the amount of buffs your allies have with them at that time. Also, if the enemy is buffed when Rimuru hits them with the s3, the entire enemy team will have Decrease Defense applied to them. Unaffected by Elemental disadvantages.
Moving on, his s2 – Analyze and Assess, is a passive that allows Rimuru to copy two buffs from the enemy using his s3 (even if it misses), and grants those buffs to him and his allies. This effect does not apply to undispellable buffs however.
His s2 also has a secondary effect called Be Ready! which has Rimuru performing a counterattack when an ally or himself is attacked by a buffed enemy during this time, he will also gain 30% Combat Readiness which makes him jump the turn queue by a significant amount. this effect is on a 3-turn cooldown and also applies the passive mentioned above whereby he copies two buffs and applies it to his allies.
His basic attack (s1) – Okay, Shall I Get Started? has Rimuru cutting the enemy and granting him one random buff that lasts for 1-turn.
A Slime Of All Trades
From the skills mentioned above, you can gauge that Rimuru shines most in the PvP content of Epic Seven, his overall kit is geared in dealing with enemy DPS while also punishing teams that are reliant on buffs.
While I personally build him with Speed and Immunity sets, (Speed to ensure I go next right after proccing Analyze and Assess and Immunity to save him from any potential debuffs that might cripple him like sleep or stun). There are many ways that one can go about building him in terms of equipment sets. His artifact choices are also relatively flexible, but most would opt for Proof of Valor (which may save him from getting one shot).
Different sets that you may use for Rimuru in Epic Seven include:
Speed + Immunity – for this type of Rimuru you would want to pair him with Knights that can soak up damage like Arowell or Ras with Aurius due to the fact that he might get slightly squishy if your stat rolls aren’t great.
Penetration + Immunity + Crit Chance – similarly, you may want to pair this type of Rimuru with Knight type characters. This type of set however is quite the surprise set as the Analyze and Assess counterattack could potentially do a lot of damage due to the Penetration Set, especially if you have Decrease Defense applied as well.
Health + Health + Health – I personally have not tried this build before due to unfavorable stat rolls, but I have fought a Rimuru that had a lot of health which resulted in me losing the fight as I was too focused on taking him down but met with no success.
Possible Counters
While Rimuru is a great hero, he is susceptible to failure when going up against teams that include the following Heroes (who are most likely built to be fast):
Zio – Zio could push Rimuru back in the turn order and hit him with a significant amount of true damage which leaves him open to killing blows from a follow up hero.
Angel of Light Angelica – Angel of Light Angelica is a tough match up for Rimuru as she could cast Silent and Cannot Buff on his entire team which cripples Rimuru as there are no buffs for him to capitalize on, nor could he cast his skills.
Final Thoughts
If you are active in Epic Seven’s Arena and RTA, Rimuru is a definite must have, he serves as a great disrupter for other player team compositions as he does require specific champions to control him effectively. However, while his potential true damage output is high, it is limited to the Arena only as enemy mobs have much higher hp values normally.
Couple that with the fact that there is a possibility of a new 5 star limited hero coming with the collab rerun, I would advise on spending the bookmarks on Rimuru if you’re not tight on them currently. However, if you could spare a 10x or 20x pull just to test your luck, I would say go for it and may the odds be ever in your favor.
