One of the most inventive games in the Warhammer 40K library, Boltgun, has finally announced its release date so fans can get in on that Space Marine action.
In a new trailer, Focus Interactive revealed that Warhammer 40K : Boltgun will release on May 23rd for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch as well as PC.
Pre orders are also available for all versions except the Switch.
Boltgun is a throwback to classic Doom-style boomer shooters, featuring 2D sprites moving in a 3d background.
You’ll find it’s a little more complex than the games of ’93 though, since your Space Marine seems blessed with the gift of not only jumping, but homing dashes via the chainsword.
The new trailer also shows off a variety of classic Space Marine weapons, such as the Plasma Gun, Chainsword, Meltas and all variety of Boltguns for you to switch between mid combat.
It even prominently features the forces of Chaos- all ripe to be mowed down by the Emperor’s fury in ballistic firearm form, as you riddle a Great Unclean One and a Lord of Change with your weaponry.
Boltgun is one of two currently in development Space Marine shooters, with the other being the aptly named Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, the follow up to the equally descriptively-named Space Marine.
