Yume Nikki to be getting a sequel

Having a permanent spot in the pantheon of horror RPGs alongside Angels of Death and Ib, Yume Nikki will be getting a long-awaited sequel very soon. Original author Kikiyama will be returning to work on the new game, which will be published by Kadokawa.

Looking at the teaser site, we see a count down hinting at the the date of the next announcement, which is on 25 January 2018. However, nothing is definite at this point in time. Meanwhile the celebrate the occasion, the English version has just been put on Steam as a a free-to-play title. As such, if you have never heard or tried the game, there is no better time than now to give it a go.

Released in 2004 as an RPG maker title, Yume Nikki has you playing as girl who goes by the name of Madotsuki who wanders in her dark, disturbing dream world and killing NPCs. Elaborating any further will be going into spoiler territory, and the best way to enjoy this is going in blind.
