At the Pokemon Direct last night it was announced that The Pokemon Company is partnering with Netflix to create a new stop-motion animation TV Series Called Pokemon Concierge.
The show will star Haru, a young woman who works as a Concierge in a Pokemon Resort. The series sees her interact with different pokemon and their owners as they visit the resort as guests.
“Netflix is looking forward to delighting fans in Japan and around the world with ‘Pokémon Concierge,’ an entirely new visual and storytelling experience featuring ground-breaking stop-motion animation set in the Pokémon world in close collaboration with The Pokémon Company,” said Minyoung Kim, Vice President of Netflix Content in Asia. “We’re also excited to reveal this new series on Pokémon Day and provide fans with even more things to look forward to on this special holiday celebrating the popular franchise.”
The series is being produced by the Japanese stop-motion company dwarf Studio, who previously worked with Netflix on their series Rilakkuma and Kaoru and Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure. From personal viewing, I can say that both of the Rilakkuma anime have a very laid-back and cozy vibe that would fit well with the Pokemon world.
It has not been announced when Pokemon Concierge will be released. It is currently only listed as “coming soon”.
