An NFT Project titled Oldeus has been accused of ripping off animations from an animated cutscene from the mobile gacha game – Arknights.
UPDATE: Hypergryph has sent out a Cease and Desist to the Oldeus team.
Oldeus is a web3 brand of NFTs which features Manga inspired characters and tokens where users are able to purchase. The accusation was made through one of the recent tweets that the Oldeus Twitter account posted recently. The trailer shows off a quick 21 second animation featuring some characters from the NFT project.
Users were quick to point out the striking similarities of the trailer with the cutscene of the Roaring Flare animated cutscene from Arknights which shows Amiya changing into the Guard class operator.
Moreover, according to this reddit post over on the Arknights subreddit, it seems that there are multiple users over at the Oldeus discord server claiming that the similarity between the reveal trailer as well as the Arknights cutscene is because it’s supposedly done by the same animation team.
The Oldeus Twitter account has also posted thread regarding this accusation where they mentioned that their intent was not to plagiarise but to take inspiration and recreate the Arknights trailer. In the same thread, they have also included some WIP files to show that trailer was made from scratch.
They also mentioned that they are currently in touch with the Arknights team to address any concerns that they might have. Although, there is still no official statement by Hypergryph in regards to this situation.
