Kojima Productions has announced that they will be partnering with Hammerstone Studios to create a brand-new movie based on the game Death Stranding.
The Death Stranding film will have Hideo Kojima and Alex Lebovici from Hammerstone Studios on board as the producers while Kojima Productions US and Allan Ungar serve as executive producers.
Alex Lebovici is a film producer whose latest works include the 2022 film Barbarian and Padre Pio. He is also the executive producer for the Uncharted: Live Action Fan Film, a fan film of the Uncharted series available on YouTube with over 11 million views.
The plot for the film has yet to be revealed but they did announce that it will include new elements and characters into the Death Stranding universe. Whether this means existing Death Stranding characters would appear in the movie or not is still up in the air.
To give you a good grasp of the universe of Death Stranding, it is set in an apocalyptic United States where invisible creatures known as Breached Things roam the Earth. They can cause nuclear levels of explosion, leading to rains that rapidly age everything they touch.
The Death Stranding game was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC with a sequel officially announced at The Game Awards 2022.
