Hellena Taylor, the previous voice actress for Bayonetta, has now posted to Twitter revealing more details about the reason she left the role including that she was initially offered at least $10,000 USD total to play the character for Bayonetta 3.
Taylor says that the initial offer she received for Bayonetta was $10,000 and that after messaging Platinum Games Senior Vice President Hideki Kamiya, that offer was raised to $15,000. After this, she declined to voice the role and after 11 months she was offered to voice “some lines” for a flat fee of $4000 USD.
This can all be read on her original Twitter thread:
It has come to my attention that some people are calling me a liar and golddigger. I feel the need to defend myself and my reputation in the industry. See thread #PlatinumGames #Nintendo #Bayonetta #Bayonetta3 #Bayonutters #Boycott #NintendoEurope #NintendoAmerica #NintendoJapan

Miss Taylor holds that she was not asking for an excessive pay cut and just wanted what she believes to be “a fair, living wage in line with the value that I bring to this game.”
This controversy occurred just over a week ago when Taylor made four videos on Social Media saying that she left the role of Bayonetta because Platinum Games only offered to pay her a flat rate of $4000 for the entire voice role.
A Bloomberg Report by Jason Scheier which was further corroborated by other reliable journalists, however, said they received written evidence that Taylor was offered at least $15,000 but she turned it down wishing for a six-figure salary and residuals. She would later be offered $4000 for a cameo role in the game.
These latest posts by Taylor seem to corroborate with much of what was reported in the Bloomberg article. It seems that Hellena Taylor did misinform the public regarding the full situation which has now come to light.
Later in the thread, she holds that fans should donate to charities as opposed to buying Bayonetta 3 and implies that the journalists reporting on the controversy may have been bought off by higher-ups in the gaming industry in order to discredit her.
Bayonetta 3 will launch on the 28th of October for the Nintendo Switch.
