In addition to reviving The X-Files television series, Fox is taking the franchise to the small screens. By way of FoxNext Games and Creative Mobile Games, an X-Files: Deep State will be released will coincide with the launch of the show as it returns for its 11th season.
According to Variety, the story will take place in 2010, way after the original series, but just prior to the events of the new season. New cases will be introduced on a monthly basis delving into a variety of subject matter, in addition to standalone episodes. It will be interesting to see if the developer manages to release something that will appease old fans while winning over the newer crowd. Given that adventure games are somewhat a dying genre, Fox will have a rather difficult task ahead of them.
