Nier Automata Anime Will Premiere In January 2023, Promo Videos Have Been Released

The Aniplex Online Fest 2022 has revealed that the previously announced Nier Automata anime will be premiering in January 2023.

They also released two new character promo videos for the two main characters 2B and 9S. They can be watched on the Aniplex official Youtube account.

The Nier Automata anime is being produced by A1-Pictures with Ryouji Masuyama (Blend S) as the director. The character designs are being done by Jun Nakai and the music is being composed by MONACA.

For voice actors here are the confirmed Japanese seiyuus who will be reprising their roles from the game:

• 2B – Yui Ishikawa
• 9S – Natsuki Hanae
• Pod 042 – Hiroki Yasumoto
• Pod 153 – Kaoru Akiyama

Here is the official synopsis of the anime from Square Enix:

“NieR: Automata tells the story of androids 2B, 9S, and A2 and their battle to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia overrun by powerful machines.”

“Humanity has been driven from the Earth by mechanical beings from another world. In a final effort to take back the planet, the human resistance sends a force of android soldiers to destroy the invaders. Now, a war between machines and androids rages on… A war that could soon unveil a long-forgotten truth of the world.”

The anime is an adaptation of the action RPG published by Square Enix, developed by Platinum Games, and directed by Yoko Taro. The game was originally released for the PS4 before coming to other consoles. Most recently, it will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 6th, 2022.
