According to the statement, Toge Productions and Mojiken Studio had discovered that the UK-based publisher – PQube Games which they had signed for the console publishing for A Space for the Unbound for the western regions had exploited the agreement that was made which caused the termination of said agreement overall.
Toge Productions and Mojiken Studio further talks about their statement where during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic back in August 2020, PQube Games had used Toge and Mojiken’s position as well as their heritage as Indonesian developers to obtain a diversity fund from a well known console platform.
The diversity fund in the form of a grant fund which was intended to help the underrepresentation for game developers during the pandemic. Toge and Mojiken said that PQube Games had intentionally withheld information about the grant fund and had used it as a leverage for their own personal commercial gains.
PQube Games hid the facts about the grant’s award and added it as a recoupable minimum guarantee and then used it to negotiate the increase of their revenue share instead of paying the grant money to Toge and Mojiken and they had only uncovered the truth about true amount of these funds and their intended purposes in March of this year.
Taking a stand against exploitative publishers, Toge and Mojiken have terminated their contract with PQube Games. Unfortunately, PQube is still refusing to hand over the publishing controls on console platforms which had led the release for A Space for the Unbound to be delayed until further notices.
