FIFA 23 unveiled new details for its career mode today, including new information about your quest to make your player God’s gift to professional football.
A huge part of this is the new Player Personalities, wherein different playstyles will be sorted into three main archetypes.
These are known as the Maverick, Virtuoso and Heartbeat personalities, with archetypes like Maverick being more focused on aggressive play while Heartbeat is more about team-centric plays.
Rather than spend points in them on your own, these personalities are reflective of the player playstyles- shots on goal for example will give you more Maverick points, while Heartbeat is tied to things like passing the ball between your teammates.
These culminate in an Absolute Level, which represents the peak of that particular personality type, promising even more rewards for your player.
Off Pitch Activities
It’s not just on the pitch- Career Mode in FIFA 23 also gives you plenty of other avenues to boost your character’s personality score and also make more money on the side.
The first of these is via the game’s Decision system. Like a visual novel, you’ll be able to make choices that reflect your character’s personality. Do you want to showboat during an interview and take credit for the team’s victory? That might earn you some Maverick points.
Like real footballers, you’ll also be able to make investments to increase your own coffers. These are sorted by risk, and you’ll want to choose carefully so you’ll have enough money to take part in the game’s shopping mechanic to also build up some personality points.
FIFA 23 is the final game for the EA Sports FIFA brand, and features improvements to the game’s Hypermotion technology from last year as well as some gameplay innovations to put more control in the player’s hands.
