Digital Extremes, known for the ninja cyborg action shooter Warframe, has announced their next title during TennoCon yesterday – Soulframe.
Have a look at the cinematic reveal below (it’s age-restricted, though):
Unlike the sci-fi setting of Warframe, Soulframe adopts a fantasy setting. This free-to-play open world action hybrid-MMORPG is still currently in development and will feature themes of nature, restoration and exploration. The game will feature primarily melee combat, as opposed to Warframe‘s more balanced mix of melee and ranged combat.
As part of the Soulframe announcement, Digital Extremes announced that Director Steve Sinclair and Creative Director Geoff Crookes along with select Warframe developers will expand their efforts onto Soulframe. Live Operations & Community Director Rebecca Ford will be the new Creative Director for Warframe (she also voices Lotus in the game).
According to Sinclair:
“Where ‘Warframe’ is super fast and crazy high-speed, this one’s going to be a lot more slow and heavy. But it still has a lot of similarities to the genre that we have experience in.”
